Yes, it might not be a bad idea to go somewhere, if Hillary or some other sick Democrat gets elected. I'm with you.

silly gorbie
do you mean emigrate?

Rebecca
Look at immi.gov.au or see if you can get sponored by a company. If you have a skilled trade (doctor, nurse, accountant, plumber, electrician) you may find it easier to get there as they have a skill shortage in many trades in australia.
Or get an agent to act on your behalf to fill out all the tedious paperwork and forms.
If you are between the ages of 18-30 and are from a commonwealth country apply for a 1 year working holiday visa.
That way you can at least see if you like the place and can imagine yourself living there.
Good luck :-)

Ships Ahoy
Australia is a wondeful country with a great attitude towards people who genuinely want to call Australia home. They generally don't warm to opinionated whining sissys like Thom.

Visit www.immi.gov.au as mentioned and they will talk you through the process.

You will be asked about your background (Thom didn't realise that they actually screen for criminals, rapists, people fleeing the law, drug dealers etc). If you are none of the above, you will be happy to assist Immigration with their questions.

Thom's huge money scam is a AUD$1500.00 processing fee for your application. A small fee compared to most countries in the world (a small country like St. Maarten in the Caribbean has a fee of US$2650.00 for example).

The Aussie dollar is almost 78c to the US$1. The country is listed as having one of the healthiest economies in the world with low inflation, unemployment and one of the lowest rates of bankrupsies in the industrialised world.

If you try to bypass all of these systems and purchase an illegal passage on a boat from indonesia to Australia, you will be held in a detention centre until they decide if you are a refugee or a criminal trying to bypass Australian law. I am not aware of any country in the world that welcomes illegal immigrants with open arms. Before Australia took a tough stance on this issue, most of the Triads creating havoc today, came to Australia in this way. Understandable to all but Thom that Australia would want to stop this from continuing

This socially misguided country rewards it citizens with stable government, free medical care, free schooling, no upfront payments for university, a stable judicial system and the largest per capita rate of business ownership in the world. Obviously very misguided.

Unless you are a wanker like Thom, you will follow the simple process and enjoy a great lifestyle in a country that it a huge multicultural melting pot full of happy people who will make you feel very welcome.

You are in for a nightmare of bullshit to go through. You will feel as though you are being vetted, scrutinised and demoralised to live in a colony which, apart from the pleasant multi cultures, has a people with an innate arrogance and ignorance beyond description. It is also a huge money scamming set up with large administration fees to pay. (There are ways of retrieving these !) Also, remember the Aussie dollar is weak in exchange to Europe, UK and many other currencies, making it hard to leave again. Think hard and long beforehand and don't be won over by the "land of opportunity"....it IS NOT. It is handy to have the resident Visa as an option though ! And be aware that the Australian Immigration dept. is an embarrassing mess which has dumped innocent people, many with children, into Nazi styled desert detention centres, then wrongfully deported them ! Good Luck but it is not an endearing experience, offering to help populate this socially misguided continent. Here writes one individual who BEAT their system.
