To me an Aussie the people of America are a mixed bunch, their all there, the good, the bad and the ugly, no better no worse than any one else, very patriotic which can be sometimes a bit of a worry, however its understandable after 911, overall though a pretty friendly and supportive bunch,, a bit of advise if you don't mind,, don't vote Republican next time or you might end up with another Bush

Americans annoy most Aussies. You believe (incorrectly) that you're a country that is invincible and greater than any other. Most of you take great offense to Aussies taking the piss out of your people and your country.
We laugh behind your backs, mock your stupid president and make numerous derogatory jokes about your states and about your general population.
However, you also provide alot of money to the Aus and NZ economies when you travel over here and waste copious amounts of money visiting morons like Steve Irwin, and for that we say thanks!

Generally we don't mind Americans, in groups of 1 or less.

But I'd say we all pretty much can't stand your pathetic excuse for a President....(What were you people thinking)

Are all Texans that dumb?

My Australian point of view:

There are so many people in the US that you can't generalise. I think there are people that fill the whole spectrum of views, lifestyles, politics and even fashion sense, music taste etc etc.

I get very frustrated (and no, I don't have US connections) by the way some people in the US and other countries blame the people and the government for everything that is happening around the world. I guesss it mostly has to do with politics and policies, but I don't see the US as the devil in this world. I see it as a country that has made mistakes (you are only human), but ultimately has done some amazing things for other people around the world - I see the US people as unselfish in a lot of ways.

From what travelers have told me, Australia likes us, but New zealand is happy to see us leave!

Speaking for the majority, a lot of people have minor gripes with Americans - but not to the point of hatred. Me personally, I think its ridiculous to generalise based on race so I give everyone a chance. I am however one of the MANY Bush haters in Australia, and a lot of people make false assumptions that every American supports him.

Yes, in the main we love you.

I have visited the USA a total of 5 times, just love the place. I have long time friends there - some that I met on the internet and met in person, some I met when my parents lived over there.

Since you asked, I'll tell you the one thing that annoys me is when people don't know where Australia is, presume that I'm Canadian or from England. One lady said "Same thing" when I said Australia. It's not, it's not even in the same hemisphere. I laughed at the time, but really, it wasn't funny.

Having said that, I'm sure there are ignorant Aussies that Americans bump into here on their travels.

You guys have a reputation here (Australia) of being Loud, proud and obnoxious, but we still love you anyways.

Americans mostly seem pretty nice, bloody up 'emselves tho. Think they own the world, allways strutting and preening. Like Roosters.

I like the down to earth ones, anyone with half a brain is fine by me.

But geeze theres alot o bleedin idjiots.

Those hiltons, chuck them in the bush for half a day, theres a laugh.

And that rich guy with the big hair.. Trump... what a selfish sadistic prick.

And that slack jawed cave monkey with a fetish for the big guy.. bushy.. is he a few snags short of a barby or what??

Most yanks seem like they cant tell dirt from earth and that sh*ts me no end.

Its all so bleedin lazy.. remote controls and drive throughs. Giant meals everywhere.. I mean, i'm not against a steak that falls of the edge of your plate.. but ya gotta earn it.

and whats with the pisweak beer? pansies!!

bunch of big girls blouses walking round like their king sh*t.

But thats not all of them..

I've met some good blokes, real nice, know howta put em away.

and some credible ladies too, knowledgable.

but thats just the travelers.. they gotta be smarter than the rest.. they got out.

==end of outrageous australian accent==

most of the time i talk like this, but i used my alter ego to illustrate my point.. my views remain the same. And yes, i am Australian, allthough i hail from Canberra, where we speak relatively properly

well they way that i see Americans is that you guys are oblivious to the world around you and a little bit ignorant about other countries. I think that Americans come across very confident and very independent!

If I had to compare (I'm a New Zealander) you with Canadians (your rumoured arch enemies), I would say Canadians are much better than Americans, not that I've met every one of the many million that live in USA. The ones I have met are varied but seem to be able to be stereotyped to their city. For instance, have been to Los Angeles five times and each time I find that I only meet ignorant, up themselves, rude, the big I am people. Then we went to Las Vegas and they are totally different - friendly, down to earth, happy, can't do enough for you type people. Let me say, that I have only met people in the hospitality industry - so they should really be NICE and nothing else. If I can base my opinion on them alone, then I would say that, like everywhere in the world, we all have a varied lot of people that shouldn't be stereotyped. The answer to your initial question - unless the next ones I meet prove otherwise, and based on the ones I have met, I don't much like the people of the US.
