It took me about 9 hours driving time.

But I have a recommendation about the drive. We stopped off in the Hunter Valley on the way and picked up some amazing Shiraz and Semillon at a bunch of the wineries. I was the designated driver for the trip, but the passengers loved the detour!

About a 1000km

12 ish hours - plus or minus a few depending on how fast you go, how many times you stop, etc.

Two days. Stop overnight at Coffs Harbour - plenty motels there on the highway in town. The highway is busy with truckies overnight, daytime is best for cars/caravans. Coffs is a popular stop for Sydneysiders going to the Gold Coast, and back, hence the many motels there. Two days.

996 kms from the Gateway toll way in Brisbane to Sydney going down the Pacific Highway. Best to break your trip over night in, Ballina, Coffs Harbour or Kempsy comming from Brisbane.

Long drive, take someone with you to share the drive and someone to talk to.

And Ethina. To take 9 hours from Brisbane to Sydney, you must have been going 130-140 all the way!!! My dad is a ex truck driver. He is always pushing the limits to the most he can go (113 on a 110 strip) and it still takes him 12 hours straight through. I still recomend an overnight stop somewhere

In miles, not sure just Google it. In terms or time, I suggest you allow at least 3 days (ie 2 overnight stops) unless you're really putting in long driving days.

For the most part of the journey there's no motorway and it's pretty hard work, certainly compared to driving the same distance in the US or UK.

unless you have unlimited time I would forget it. I was in Melbourne and intended driving to Sydney, I was talked out of having a fifteen hour drive and a one hour flight. and when the prices were compared hiring a car and paying for the fuel cost very nearly as much as the plane. A tip here... In Australia anything coloured red is called blue, so if you travel by Virgin blue, the plane is painted red. just to add to the poor travellers confusion.............
