The high school I went to in Adelaide had air conditioning but you were still let out 1 hour early if the temperature was predicted to be 36 degrees or higher on the 6pm news the night before.

Never heard of school closing up cause it's too hot.
Most classes have air conditioning in these days.

38 degrees, But most schools are airconditioned so I think it depends on where you are.

Stiffler
We used to get let out at 40, but it might depend on whether the school has air conditoning.

holly
For schools that have no air conditioning it's 40.
Australia wide.

when i was at school it was 40 but that was sydney not sure about adelaide sorry

Nick
45 atm i think

Mel
Ha, air conditioning, yeh right. I went to private schools and only the library and new art block had air con.

The rules in NSW were 40 for coastal school but for schools located more inland but still in coastal towns it was 45 as was the case with my school. ughh. We were only 15mins from the beach but the weather was 10 hotter in summer and 10 colder in winter, we even had sleet quite often in winter. We were also only 5mins from the mountains, which brought such weather.

But even at 40 or 45 school is not cancelled, you are just permitted to leave in such temperatures, classes still run.
