How is Christmas celebrated in New Zealand?

Polo
The same as in the UK, but in better weather.

Scotty
Warmly !

Well as it's my 1st xmas in New Zealand I'll be with friends in a small town on the beach, it's to hot for a big meal so we'll just be having a light meal, fondue has been mentioned, then we'll go down to the beach with the rugby ball and a vollyball and meet with more friends, we'll slowly get drunk and enjoy the weather.

A lot of people head away to the coast for xmas and new year, but generally it's celebrated the same way as in the northern hemisphere.

Same way it is here only the other way up :-)

Depends where in New Zealand you are and who you are with. If you are on the beach or by a lake it could be with a barbie or picnic but if you are in someone's home it would be much like the UK etc with lots of food and beer. Wherever it is or whoever it's with I'm sure it'll be good. They don't make such a fuss as we do in the Uk though which is good

Not on a snowy night
By star or candlelight
Nor by an angel band
There came to our dear land
Te Harinui
Te Harinui
Te Harinui
Glad tidings of great joy

(First verse of "Te Harinui", a Christmas song by Willow Macky)

Normal variations on the theme - family, presents, eating far too much food (barbecues are popular), some go to church (often for a midnight service on Christmas Eve), carol singing... Pretty much the same ideas as elsewhere in the western world, with the very sensible addition of summer weather!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and a safe and prosperous New Year!

Since Christmas is a Christian festival I should imagine it is celebrated more or less the same in every christian community no matter where in the world they happen to be.

They decorate sheep with tinsel and flashing lights.

Lots of beer, bbq's, friends and family. Very laid back and another excuse for a party!

Exactly the same way everywhere else.
