How is it in australia with so many bugs and animals?

Is their really that and bus and animals in australia that can hurt you and do you really see them?
I thinks it would be scary to thin that you could go to sleep and wake up with a black widow or something sleeping on your face or scorpions running around the house I mean it would be unbearable for me id probably die through fear alone. Do you really seem them taht often. Whats it like their.
Is new zealnd so bad?

We don't have black widows in Australia. We do have some venomous spiders but I've never seen one in seven years here. (Okay - just one funnel web - it was stuffed in the museum in Sydney.) Never seen a single snake, not even a carpet python which is harmless.

You can get your house sprayed to keep most bugs away, especially spiders and cockroaches. I find the worst thing is the mosquitoes and other biting insects, but I used to get victimised by those in the UK, where I come from, anyway.

Scorpions - I have heard that some places have them, but not where I live. We also have no sharks, crocs or bad jellyfish - the water here is perfect as far as I'm concerned but it's not warm enough for them.

One thing they tell newcomers here is to treat the wildlife with respect. In other words, be aware of where redback spiders, for example, might lurk (under rims of outdoor plant pots, etc) and don't touch, or spray first, or wear gloves. If you're bushwalking, stick to open paths and you're unlikely to tread on a snake. They are shy creatures anyway and are likely to get out of your way before you even see them.

Come and see for yourself!
PS If you're American, well, you have plenty of venomous and other dangerous creatures (including spiders, scorpions and snakes) in your country too.

The wildlife here is absolutely shocking,,you would be totally amazed,,there are bugs and insects and all manner of creatures getting around at night just waiting to sneak into the bed with you..and the feral critters that stalk you in the bush.........well.......no wonder so many tourists disappear !

Well, I'm Australian and I think I would die of fear alone if I thought I was going to wake up with a black widow on my face or scorpions going nuts around the house. Black widow sightings = 0, scorpion sightings = 0.

I see dogs on leads .They have to be on a lead here. An occasional cat . a few bugs but hardly any Mosquitos are out at dawn and dusk and most of the time you don't see them **** roaches i hate and occasionally one gets in the house but I have had pest control in so if they do get in they don't live to long. I see skinks and lizards they are harmless. I've only ever seen half a dozen or so snakes. not near my home. They have been in their own enviroment. If I take a long road trip into the out back or country and drive early morning or at night then you will probably see some kangaroos. I have had red back spiders in the garden you can normally see they might be there as their web is tangly and under things like out door furniture or plant pots. I soon got rid of them . Parts of Australia have a lot of flies they are not nice but where I live if I leave my doors open and are cooking then an odd one or 2 may come in. Plenty of ants here I once saw a scorpion when I was camping and I left some wet bathers on the ground and it came to them. New Zealand isn't as bad. the cold weather there keeps a lot of things away. They have no snakes in NZ They are one of the few countries in the world that do not have snakes. Infact I think there is only 2 countries without snakes and i believe one is Ireland

TATO
They make for a very healthy diet. Thank you

Kel
dont worry just use REPELLENT and FLY SPRAY

npgSymboL
scorpions aren't so bad
if i wake up and they are around
i just put my shoes on and ride them to the front door
it's perfectly safe and lots of fun.

it doesnt work with cockroaches though

australia is kinda good also cause i have a pet kangaroo,
other countries have dogs but how many of you can ride your dogs to school?

Most wildlife animals are more scared of you then you are of them. Seriously, the number of times I've almost stepped on a Brown Snake, well, they've always slithered away pretty fast. Anything creeping or crawling in my house gets caught and put outside where it belongs.

The only animal that terrifies me is those Magpies :) Damn they're nasty.

I have been bitten by a scorpion, when living on the farm when I was younger, it hurt like hell, but I didn't die from it.

Oh and the number of people I know that have had a cockroach crawl in their ear while they're asleep... ;)

The most common animals I see are Kangaroos.. (They are literally humping like rabbits these days!... its not even illegal to shoot them anymore!)...

Bats, possums, rabbits, snakes, pelicans, ect;

But the dangerous animals are very rare.

Australia has 9 of the 10 most poisonous snakes in the world, so I know what youre thinking... but if you live in a city, or near a city, you're okay. No dangerous animals to see really. Its safe.

If you live in the outback well...

That's a different story.

there is quite a few but not as many in New Zealand, but if you know how to avoid them and how to deal with them then you ar fine!

I live in New Zealand and have travelled to Australia more times than i can remember. It is fine there, yes there are bugs but there are bugs everywhere in the world.
If you stick to the cities you will be fine, I mean you can sometimes see big spiders or the odd snake but its not like they are running rampage all over the show.
If you go bush, I'm sure you'll encounter some scary bugs and stuff but doesn't sound like you'll be doing that.
New Zealand is a beautiful country to live in and visit, definately not as many bugs, and no snakes.
Come visit both countries, Australia is hot and laid back, New Zealand is also hot over summer (not quite as hot but still hot), laid back, and beautiful scenery.
Enjoy your trip...... Don't worry so much, it'll take away from the awesome time you'll have!
Hehe sorry for the extreme long answer.

@ Elle T

Shut up Kiwi.

@ Asker. I believe you are extremely ignorant. There are poisonous animals, reptiles and insects all around the world. Australia isn't just a dirt land that is covered in bugs. Scorpions are native to Aus, but I highly doubt that you would wake up with one crawling all over your bed. (they live in the desert). A spider could crawl onto your face in any country you idiot. We don;t have "Black widow spiders", we have funnel webs, which are extremely poisonous, btu only hang aorund certian area's.

Before you start asking ignorant questions again, why don't you do some research? Your the kind of person that make America look stupid

Oh and New Zeland is full of reatards who can't speak properly.

What bugs and animals?

We have pets, such as cats and dogs, but no wild animals roaming around. I have never seen a scorpion and your household spiders are harmless and not as common as you seem to think.

In all seriousness, wouldn't Australia be inhabitable if what you're saying were true?

You have no idea, do yourself a favour and come and see for yourself.

JESSIEBLUE
i worked in one of the hottest stats in australia for 18 yrs , and to say i didnt see these things would be a lie , you learn to be vigilant and careful, and yes i loved my working yrs there , dont worry too much ,
