Greek God, I have done that route a number of times. The airlines have on-board entertainment, but I always pick up a couple of good books. I know do the round trip from Montreal to Sydney, same thing, instead of connecting to a Qantas 747, it's now one of those Air Buses, and yes we have entertainment via head phones. Again I bring a book, there are a couple of great book stores in Sydney, which I want to hit when I get down there soon.
Okay the flight is long, just get up and have a walk around the aircraft, keeps the circulation going, and it's easy on your backside, try and sleep, if you can.

I did it twice but only to sydney . long and tedious maybe. lots of films, radio available to listen and watch while you are on journey.
its really a state of mind. try and relax sleep a bit if You can , take a good book and magazine about your favourite things with you and a few sweets , remember to drink lots of water (sipping is Ok) on flight a sits very dehydrating. do not check times to airport . I used to Look at overlay map on screen now and again and check where over the sea or land we were but it try not to check More than every 3-4 hours or even that wil make it seem like you are moving at a snails pace. good conversation ( quite) can alleviate some of journey as wil meal breaks and refreshments , I wish you a pleasant flight. |

Yeah sure, they have a cabaret act and a stripper, then you get invited to play darts or go ice skating.................... no, in reality you will be stuck in an uncomfortable seat for a whole day, surrounded by people who you don't know, or like, and who smell awful. |

I don't know how is it like? I do know WHAT it is like - it's boring as hell and yea you get some films and stuff to watch but it's still fairly tedious. |

I've done it three times and every time I've stopped off in Singapore. I imagine you'll do the same, even if you have just enough time to stretch your legs.
I find it hellish, but thats because I smoke. It is a bit boring, but I try and get as much sleep in as possible. There is onboard entertainment like films, TV, radio, games, etc. Take a couple of books, or better yet, a Nintendo DS or suchlike.
To be honest though, it's completely worth it. You'll have a wicked time out there. |

I have just got back from a holiday in Oz, and i live in the UK, I am really bad at travelling but i found the flight fine!
We flew with Singapore airlines and there was loads to do, like games, Tv programmes, music and LOADS of new films. There was in fact quite a few films available that haven't even been released on dvd yet, like twilight.
Hope this helps,
Have a gd timee! |

Yes, all the airlines that fly London-Australia (including the Asian airlines) have seat back TV's in most of their aircraft.
If you stick to Qantas, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines or Emirates, then you cant go wrong entertainment wise. |

I can't imagine it's a non-stop flight bz it would be dangerous for blood-circulation without movement. |

It's obviously better than been on a standard flight, I know you have TVs in back of chairs and you can choose your own channel. I think you can walk about but don't know to what extent. Your not as cramped aswell, not sure if the chairs can be turned into beds. Yeah it'll drag aswell, I recommend staying up night before so you can sleep for alot of the journey. |

If you haven't booked yet then book with an overnight stop somewhere You then get to glimpse another Country. I've done the flight many times and Have stayed in Singapore Bangkok Vietnam and Hong kong 3 times Hotels are not very expensive. If you have booked then ask if you can change it for an overnight stop you can have 2 or 3 days if you want. Some airlines are more comfortable than others Singapore airlines Ive found have the better seats more room nd foot rests. I always take a travel pillow as the pillows they supply are really not much good. They will have a lot of choices for movies video games and music. Take a book and meals come around then there is part of the journey all the lights go out for sleeping , Still it gets a bit monotonous but once you arrive your glad to get there but say well it was ok . |
