How long would it take to drive from Adelaide to Brisbane?

I would like to do some sightseeing along the way. Definites are the great ocean road, melbourne and the eastern coast from coffs harbour to brisbane. For other areas I am happy to take inland routes to save time.

Hi.......
I suggest you get a map or atlas and map out exactly where you want to visit and sights you want to see. If you want to do the Great Ocean Road, you'll have to head east from Adelaide but you could probably head inland a bit after you've driven it. I'd probably stick to the coastline anyway as it is a beautiful drive up the coast and well worth the time. Do you want to stay in certain towns/cities or drive continuously stopping only to see the sights? If you have the time you could easily spend a week or two and meander up the coast drinking it all in.......but it could easily been done in 2-3 days (allowing time for sight-seeing)
Have a great trip.... :-)

To travel from Adelaide to Brisbane via Mildura, Hay, West Wyalong, Tamworth, Moree to Brisbane it is 2,100km and about 25 hours driving time.

From Brisbane to Sydney is 11 hours driving

tuppenybitz
around 24 hours non stop

mmdjaajl
with sightseeing 1 to 1 1/2 days to melb
coast road melb to Sydney 2 days with stops(3 days is better a lot to see & do)
Sydney to brissy 2 days with stops to look around

If you could do it non stop it would be about 22-24 hours. Alas you need stops for fuel, food and sleep. Bisbane to Sydney is about 12 hours, Sydney to Melbourne about the same or maybe 11 hours, but going direct to Adelaid yeh thats a loooooooong way man!

It's 2031km and you'd go through Newell, Oxley and Mitchell Highways (National Highways 15, 42, 39, 34 and 32) through Moree and Broken Hill.

If you are planning on doing some sightseeing along the way, I would give yourself about a week (minimum) if you want to stop over at a few of these places. It is a solid 2 day drive (and that is going inland to Sydney!)

From the RACQ Trip Planner
(Only driving time no stops included.)
Trip Planner gives you detailed, printable directions and a list points of interest etc.

I've done the Brisbane/Adelaide trip both by the inland route and the one you're planning.
The coastal trip was far nicer but longer.

Adelaide to Mt Gambier
Distance - 448.72 kms
Time - 5.14 hours

Mt Gambier SA to Portland Vic
Distance - 115.53 kms
Time - 1.24 hours

Portland Vic to Warrnambool Vic
Distance - 99.83 kms
Time - 1.18 hours

Warrnambool Vic to Sydney NSW
distance - 1128.39 kms
Time - 13.03 hours

Sydney NSW to Brisbane Qld
Distance - 928.88 kms
Time - 10.49 hours

That'll be about a 3,000km drive. So pack some lunch

Non-stop, it'd take you about 36-48 hours

go to mapquest.com and type in your and the the place you r going to, u will get the exact number.

mysterybette
About 24 to 25 hours with no coast view. If you want to go more coastal and drive through Sydney, it will only take about 4 more hours than to go direct.

use google maps and you can map your own route. I drove cross country from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles and used google maps to map out each day of driving and even plan what cool cities we could sleep in or have lunch at. it will tell you how many hours it takes to each place. have a great trip!!
