it does depend on the accomodation you intend to use, the food you want to eat anf if you are planning on shopping or not.
start at about $3000 aud for 10 days for a basic no splurging trip. and less if you stay in backpackers hotels.

Where are you coming from? The exchange rate from basically any other country is great here. It is hard to say how much you will need not knowing what you are going to want to do while here.

Don't Bring much cash.. Bring your ATM card instead (of course with enough fund on it)

fatdadslim
a fair bit bring some cash, and use your credit card, then pay it back as soon as you get home

Jem
as much as you can!!!

The rate of exchange is the dertermining factor. 1 AUS $ = about US$0.80. Retread the credit cards, stock up on Travellers Cheques, and make sure that you credit cards are compatable. Then You should be ready to enjoy Yourself. I would suggest a figure of about $5,000.00 would be more than enough to see You through. Don't forget to make sure that You have a return ticket pre-paid in advance, just in case.
Hope You enjoy Your stay down here. Cheers!

Well it depends how much you want to drink - the figure is co-related.
