G'day,
It depends which suburbs you want to live in. My suggestion is to find a place very close to where you are going to work as a start.
Once you know the place, locate them in the map (www.whereis.com.au). Find the surrounding suburbs and then enter them in the real-estate websites (www.domain.com.au and www.realestate.com.au).
Hope this helps. Good luck on the move and welcome to Melbourne. |

I know a good hostel where you can stay in Richmond near Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens. It's called - The Freeman Lodge. It's very homey and clean (in the meantime while looking for an apartment). You can also search in Camberwell - someone I met when I was in Melbourne found a cheap apartment in that area. |

I'm doing the same thing. For what I've seen, the eastern and south eastern suburbs are the most expensive, along to those nearby the CBD. For a 3 bedroom house they ask between 600-800 AU$ a week. |

depends on where you want to live..
go to www.realestateview.com.au to have a look...in rentals..
we are 12km from city (Bulleen)... for a 3 bedroom unit is about $260+/week... |

Dont forget that Melbourne has a fantastic public transport system, which is very efficient compared to other cities in OZ.
Even if you are living 20-30 km out of the city, you can find cheaper accomodation and also have public transport on your doorstep.
You might want to give more info as to what your budget and work location are so we can help you further. |

This is a very difficult question to answer as it depends on where in Melbourne you are looking to live and what sort of home you are after.
In Melbourne for a very small apartment I would allow $350 per week rent, but the further out of melbourne you live the cheaper it does get.
If you go on http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rsearch?s=vic&t=ren&snf=rbs&a=sf
It should be able to help you look for what you are after.
Goodluck :) Welcome to Melbourne |

depends on where you mean. Right in melbourne. Out in the suburbs? I recommend out in the suburbs as this is cheaper but deoending what direction you go in (n,e,s or w) also effects price. Look into real estate agents. Darren Hill is a popular one. |
