i am 47 i have eaten roo about 10 times then only when out bush (in the woods) when hunting it is OK but you can buy it in supermarkets like Cole's/Woolworth's |

pretty much.. we also use it for dog food,.
I have eaten kangaroo but would guess that as a percentage less than 10% of australians have eaten 'skippy'
it is quite nice stringy kind of meat that can be very tough if not cooked the right way |

I am not a fan of kangaroo meat - would prefer beef, chicken or lamb. However, I do buy kangaroo meat for my cat. |

typical, AKA "real Aussies" don't usually eat the national emblem, tourist, aboriginals, and a huge export market do. |

As most have said, kangaroo is available in the supermarkets.
Roo meat is low in fat (like all "game" meat) and very healthy. It has to be cooked quickly and not overcooked.
The trick with roasts is that you have to wrap the piece of meat n some neutral fat while it cooks. The meat itself has no fat so can dry out. Is the same with venison roasts. I wrap in beef fat - leaves no flavour but keeps meat moist.
And yes, roo is fed to our dogs and cats as well for much the same reasons we humans eat it - low in fat and very healthy.
As for how often? Hard to say, but must be a bit or the supermarkets wouldnt stock it. |

No, not just foreign tourists. It is sold in the supermarket and, like qldtravelguru said, is pretty popular pet food as well as being sold for human consumption. Cats can't get enough of it.
It's actually pretty nice if cooked correctly, very lean meat. Sausages and veal-like cuts are the most popular. I bought a kanagaroo 'roast' once, but I don't recommend it - but then again, I really suck at roasts, so it might just have been me |

Personally, I buy kangaroo steaks or sausages from the supermarket a couple of times a month. It is cheaper than most other meats at the moment, and makes for a good meal, as long as its not over-cooked. |

They eat it as often as they like the same as steak or lamb or veal. It is sold in supermarkets and butchers like any other meat. |
