As an Australian who's lived in the US for almost 10 years, I have to tell you that it's fairly difficult. Short of having relatives born there (no further back than grandparents) you'd need to get married. There used to be a rule that said if you showed enough money in your bank account to support yourself indefinitely etc, you could stay. The only other option would be to call up the Australian consulate and ask them about any working visa programs. If they have a shortage of people in a particular field, you may be able to get in that way. Hopefully this helps you. |

Immigration to australia is getting more difficult now. Apart from having a family member in Australia, there are certain criteria like your skills and qualifications (it changes every few years). However, once you are successful in your application, you have to stay for at least 2 years before you become a citizen. That is all I know about migrating to Aus.
Also, check on the http://www.immi.gov.au/ website. It should have an FAQ section.
Hope this helps |

You can immigrate to Australia. I know an American who did it. Also a lot of Americans are immigrating to New Zealand.
The econonomy in the US is big but the quality of life is not that great. People work too much so the man can stick it to them. |

You need to have skills which are in demand, which currently is just about everything, and your sis will have to agree to provide support for you until you get established in a job and can support yourself.Good luck. |

I'd love to do it, it's a beautiful country. I hear it's extremely hard to do so anyway. It's not good for minorities either. |

consider the pros and cons of moving there, is it really woth it? yes it's beautiful, but if you marry to get in, do they support non-working, or poverty families. i am saying that, because you are un-employed 'til ya get there. uless you are offered a good job, where you can support yourself, i'd advise against it. otherwise, go for it, call the consolate and see where they lead ya. |

Hi,
Can you say which part of Australia. I had actually approached the Chamber of Commerce WA where they not only process your skilled paper visa they also lead to employment generation and other valuable advice. I decided not to emigrate to Australia as I had so many IT jobs back home. (Please see visas.cciwa.com for details). I hope this helps. |

How did your sister come to live in Austraila? follow her lead. You could always apply for citizenship, or just buy a plane ticket and go. |
