If it is just flying you are scared of then
just treat it as a normal car, coach, train, tube journey but a little bit longer.
Only difference is you will get a meal, the chance to have a drink and you can get up and walk around, go to the toilet etc.
Also think of it as cinema complex or entertainment centre and play some games/watch some films.
If there is a bit of turbulence, think of it as being on a fairground ride. try and sleep for as much as you can - this will lessen any periods of anxiety.
But THE best piece of advice is to concentrate on why you are there - to start your trip of a lifetime. I am sure it will all be worthwhile. |

Look for a book called The Fearless Fliers Handbook by Debbie Seaman. If you have time, attend a Fear of Flying course. These are run by or in conjunction with most airlines. They usually take about six weeks. If you don't have time for that, find a psychologist who can teach you some relaxation techniques. A lot of the nerves are caused by tension. Learn to breathe deeply and relax.
Do not use alcohol. With the current climate airlines don't want anyone on board who might be a problem and drunks are always a problem. If you turn up at the airport under the influence, you will probably not be allowed on board. |

You can get some tablets at the health stores called menotolin, not only do they relax you they help you sleep on the long flight too, I've just come back from Australia and used them myself, I arrived refreshed and relaxed, enjoy your trip. |

Sleeping tablets! Or count to 100 on take off and landing, watch whatever film's on to distract you if you can't sleep and bring a book you know you love and get engrossed in, comfy clothes and a scarf for the horrid air con! |

You will be fine. The flight is good fun. You will get fed and watered well and you have the behind the seat entertainments systems to keep you occupied. Security will be tight.
Enjoy your trip |

Take 2 Dramamines (sp?) before you get on the flight. It should knock you out. My husband and I took some lore tabs for a 91/2 flight to Germany thinking it would relax us, but it didn't really work out. Plus, motion sickness pills are legal! |

Go to your GP and tell him you are afraid of flying - he'll give you some tablets that really work - mine did and they worked WONDERFULLY - I hate flying as well so I know how you feel |

Hi,try singing nearer my God to thee.
It was played by the ship band on board "Titanic" as the ship went down.
The great American President (Billy) William Mc Kinley when he was assassinated, laying on his death bed his last words were "Nearer My God To Thee."
On joyful wings cleaving the sky,
sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly,
still all my song shall be,
nearer, my God, to thee;
nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
Hope this helps, Waltz.
PS Welcome to ozz. |
