Nah mate, we are not racists, I mean there are some idiots out there, but we do try and preserve our culture (I mean it took us bloody long enough to find one). So the problem is we like immigrants assimilating to become Australians, not worrying about their skin colour. You ask any Aussie from Asian or Middle Eastern background who has come and assimilated, they have no problems fitting in etc. As long as they enjoy the footy, a meat pie and a beer than that's Aussie enough for everyone.

It just angers Australians, especially the elder generation, who see new immigrants come and live in isolated communities and don't even bother learning English or participating in local community events.

We also do have a bit of a 'tall Poppy syndrome' where we try bring anyone down to our level. Ha, but its mostly in good spirit! But anyway, you ask MOST immigrants, and basically all tourists, you'll find they say Australians are some of the friendliest people and accepting, after all our nation has been built on wave after wave of mass immigration from originally British, then Italians & Greeks, then Lebonese, then Vietnamese and now Chinese and Southern Africans.

Australians are the most laid back people in the world, and we call everyone our 'mate', they'll have a laugh about you with you esp. if your a very obvious tourist, but will chat with you telling you all the great things about Aus.

If that statement were true, why would so many people of different colours, religions and nationalities be so keen to come here to live?
Yes, we have some racist people here, we're no different to any other country in that regard. There are idiots all over the world, fewer here than many other countries, thankfully.
The biggest asset you can have when you live here is to have a sense of humour and a sense of the ridiculous.

Nope its not true... I came from aussie but I am asian. Aussie people are kind hearted and treat everyone equal..

Yes they are. I am a Brit who spent 6 months in adelaide and they are cruel.. Calling us Pommies with a nasty voice. This would not be allowed in the UK they would find themselves in court!
