There are people out there who are dedicated to helping out the injured and orphaned native animals such as kangaroos and often advertise in the local papers. I have raised two orphaned kangaroos ( pixie and dixie ) but its hard getting them past the venerable point of a disease that is very common in kangaroos. With the young ones you use a pillow case for a pouch and you just hold it open and they jump into it. They are also more loyal than a dog and will follow you everywhere. |

While it is nice that you want a pet roo, not too many people think about the fact that the "furry and cuddly" animals are usually the dangerous ones.
Unless they are the smaller species, a roo can rip your arms and/or chest open with their sharp claws. A kick from their hind leg can and likely WILL give you serious internal damage. They also can (though rarely) bite.
If you have done your homework and know what you are getting yourself in for - go for it, and all the best to you.
They CAN make good pet. Just don't get a Big RED - they are huge!
Cheers from Australia
EDIT: OOPS.. should have looked at your avatar name before ranting on, ny..

A zoo or sanctuary would love your support. You donate funds for one or two animals for a year and with this donation you usually get a pass for a year. They have participating clubs you can join and they will tell you how much it costs to 'adopt' an animal. You really don't want a kangaroo for a pet in your home. They are huge and very dangerous and extremely expensive to buy & feed and the animal would be lonely and probably be aggressive - they are aggressive to start with. You couldn't handle one much less two. |

Sorry, you would not pass the wildlife qualifying test. The only thing they would let the likes of you have, here in Australia, is a pet rock! |
