Australia's is opposite to the rest of the world
when its winter above the equator its summer below,
so in Dec when its winter above the equator it will be sunny in Australia

It barely snows in Australia during winter, during Summer theres no chance.... If your looking for snow, you want to come to Australia during July and August and go to Canberra.

Elizabeth
If you want snow in December, don't come here.
It's the middle of our long hot Summer. :-)
I'm sure you'll have a good time, even without snow.

Aquarius0276
Go to your local supermarket and ask if they'll let you get in the freezer. That's the only way you'll get ice in Oz in December. :)

tentofield
It has snowed at one time or another in every month in the Snowy Mountains in NSW but it is a rare event in summer and it cannot be guaranteed. You might be lucky were you to go to Mt Kosciusko but probably not.

The_Mouse
December is the start of summer in Australia.

While there have been cold snap and it actually snowed in December in a couple of places the last 100 years (and it only last the one morning), DO NOT expect any snow at that time anywhere in Australia.

Bill
Not much chance in mid summer.

If you want snow, go to South Island New Zealand

May I ask you if you ever have heard that Australia is in the middle of SUMMER by December? It will have high temperatures then and no way of any snow around the areas Sydney and Melbourne.
If you want skiing then you must come over to the Australian Alps during the Aussie winter which lasts from about June to August.

pop over to new zealand (it is just around the corner). they have some places that have snow all year round (and glaciers too!!) :)

T
Not in summer, no.

You need to go in winter if you want to see snow.

you'll need to import it if you want to see it in sydney or melbourne in december. you can't find snow in a rainforest climate during their summer. at that point i'll have more than i can stand, though, so would be more than willing to send some your way...

threecherubs
There are many places you can go. Probably the most popular are the ski fields west of sydney, near canberra.
Thredbo is the most well known.
