What state are you in?
For Qld it states:
Minimum age you can start work in industries other than the entertainment industry
The general minimum age is 13 years for children starting work, although children from 11 years of age may perform delivery work including for items such as newspapers and advertising leaflets.
Parental consent is required for school-aged and young children to work. Children are not allowed to work when they should be at school.
http://www.wageline.qld.gov.au/youngworkersrights/starting_work.html
Many young kids work at - Subway, Mcdonalds, KFC, any fast food joints.
Supermarkets such as Woolworths, Coles, IGA, Bi-lo.
Department stores such as Target, K-Mart. Big W, Office works
Game shops, ebgames ...
Hardware such as Bunnings, Mitre 10..
Movie Theaters, Library, Pizza Places, Small Takeaway shops etc
List is endless.
Also take a look at this site http://www.jobs-for-14-year-olds.com/types/ (looks like it's more Amercian) but it gives you some other ideas without working in a shop. |

You could babysit. Babysitters are really in high demand right now since people are working but also have kids.
Also, you could start cleaning the houses of people you know. When I was your age, I used to go to friend's houses and they'd pay me to do their dishes! |

I don't know if a lemonade stand would be to childish, but maybe a jewelry stand, or mowing the lawn for your parents or neighbors you know. And raking leaves, walking dogs, water the garden. Various things.
Just save up your money little by little and soon enough you'll have enough money for some new jeans or something else you want. |

13 is not the legal age to be working in Australia unfortunately. However, it does not stop from you earning money. Have you thought about asking your parent to hire you for undertaking duties around the house such a cleaning etc? |

Hi,
You could maybe get a casual job at fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, KFC, Hungry Jacks, Red Rooster, Pizza Hut, Dominos, and other places but you'd need to check with them first to see if your old enough to work there yet as some may have age limits.
Best thing to do is to talk to one of your school teachers and get some advice from them or ask your parents.
haha i just had a look at the Hungry Jacks website and found out that they are on facebook! haha
I hope you this helps you with your questions.

Discover Canberra is incorrect, at 13 you can not legally work. Once you're 14 give it a shot though, McDonalds would be my first port of call, they hire so many young kids.
All you can do is small jobs, like wash cars, walk dogs, babysit for family and friends, see if you can get pocket money for doing different chores, help a parent do a catalogue drop and split the money.
Good on you for not being to lazy to work. With your motivation you will go far. |
