Don;t stress! Of course you will make heaps of friends. Many of best friends in High school started at a new school at that age. A bit freaky at first, but give it a few weeks and you will love it!
Good luck and enjoy it! |

I always remembered when somebody 'foreign' started at my school, they were the focus of attention, and everyone wanted to be their friend, cant say why, but thats how it was... providing you are confident and dont shy away to yourself too much, then people will lose interest... being yourself is the key :)
good luck - im emigrating to Belgium from Australia in March, but already have friends there. |

I moved there for a year when I was 9/10 years old.
You'll make lots of new friends :)
I think with most schools, the teacher(s) will sit you with someone who'll help you out and talk to you and what not, it does help because it helps you get talking to other people instead of just sitting alone not knowing who to introduce yourself to!
You'll be fine, don't worry!
Have a nice flighty :) |

Of course you will!
We Aussies are an accepting, fun, welcoming lot...you will have more friends than you know what to do with in a very short time.
Have fun! |

Lets just say you will find it incredibly easy to make friends. You didnt say where you were moving from but if its some where international EVERYONE will want to be your friend dont be surprised if you suddenly turn popular, as your starting at the start of the new school year there will be other new kids in your grade as well. Where abouts in perth will you be moving 2? |

The mobile nature of Australia is that there is every chance there will be others starting at the same time, either emigrating or moving from another area , especially in Western Australia.
I don't think fitting in will be too hard, but one tip is to avoid continually comparing things as not as good as 'back home'. Its a sure way to annoy people. |

I just graduated from high school last year, in 2007. I moved to a new neighbourhood when I was about 14, and had to change to a new high school, which was hard as I'd known my old friends for most of my school career. I was scared about making friends, but I met a lot of great people in my last few years of school. So don't worry - you're guaranteed to make friends!
The best advice I can give to making friends is to be confident, even if you don't feel it. Don't be afraid to go up to people and say hello, and ask to sit with them or for them to show you around. Also, pay attention to those around you, particularly in your classes - you're bound to find someone who likes something you do. For example, someone might be reading a book you know and like, or talking about a television show you watch.
Don't be afraid to speak to others, be yourself, and have a blast at high school! |

If you are starting year 11 you may find that there are quite a few new people starting at the school. Some junior high schools only go to year 10 so those people have to find a new senior high school to finish their education.
Good luck- I'm sure you'll be fine. |
