I'm from Texas, how would i be treated in Australia?

I love shooting, outdoors, mudding, fishing, horses, hunting, and the country life. Would i be an outcast, because i really want to visit Australia it looks so beautiful.

You'll be treated well.
Why do you think you would be badly treated?
We are a very friendly bunch over here.
(I will say boasting big mouths are not easily tolerated by the average Aussie, no matter where they come from.)
It sounds like your hobbies are the same as thousands of Australians.
As others have stated our gun laws are very strict and in my opinion that's a good thing.
Also, I'd like to say thank you, Australia is a very beautiful country. We are lucky to live here.

As long as you dont bring George Bush you will be welcomed with open arms.

wtg_ib
you will be treated fine as long as you are not a big mouth smartsmartass who knows everything.
shooting/hunting is another matter as we have very strict gun control.
but all the other things you like are OK

You will find that we have much stricter laws than you do regarding shooting and hunting. All native species are protected by law and you need a licence to shoot any of them. Licences are not handed out liberally, Feral animals - rabbits, cats, foxes, pigs, goats, dogs, camels, donkeys, buffalo, horses etc - can be shot but you would need to check where and when you can do it. You will need to register any guns you own and many types of weapon allowed in the USA are forbidden over here. Forget your handguns unless they are specialised target shooting guns.

Most Aussies I know just LOVE the Texan accent, so expect a few looks when you open your mouth. I think you'd find that we're an open minded country that welcomes anyone who doesn't have an arrogant attitude and if you're looking for an opportunity to explore and fit in with our way of life, then come on over - we look forward to seeing you down here!

West Aussie Chick
You sound just like the majority of people I know. I am from a country town and everyone in my social circle does the same as you so I would say you would be treated like everyone else! You will love it here...it IS beautiful.

maddass
I reckon you 'd fit in just fine, but you prolly be goin home with an Aussie on ya arm ..LOL..

Aaron c
Many people have the same hobbies as you in outback australia so that would be a perfect place. Austrlians are laid back as well and wont outcast someone like that anyway.

down from the sky♫
well i live in australia, and it's a great place for the country life. u won't be an outcast, there are people here who enjoy the same things as u do. =)

Ken E
As long as you don't big note yourself you'll fit right in. See ya.

phalandrone
I guess you would be treated the same as I was when I visited Colledge Station and Brian,Tx. Can't wait to get back.

Just so you know we call "mudding" 4WDing

purplebuggy
I think you'll have heaps of fun, expect us to make fun of your accent. (I mean it's the same, we expect it when we head overseas) From your explanation 'mudding' here is called four-wheel driving and 'bush-bashing'. I don't know about the shooting and hunting side but you'll defiantely be able to find places to do all the other stuff you said you enjoyed if you're able to get out of the city. I'd recommend heading up north toward the NT and you'll get some good place to do that kind of stuff.

If Australia is the answer, you asked the wrong question. You will like it better in NZ, albeit there is a bit of Anti-Americanism, it is much more like the States, but do not tell them that!
