Centre Brisbane is great fun, lots of nice shops, cafes and restaurants.
China town is really interseting too.
DFO factory outlet near the airport has excellent bargain shopping.
The beaches at Moreton Bay and Noosa are really nice for swimming, surfing and relaxing.
South Bank has great markets.
Take the river cat down Brisbane River
Botanical Gardens are really pretty.
At the Koala Sanctury you can hold a koala.
The Gold Coast is fantastic for everything, including swimming, nightlife, shopping and sightseeing about 45mins south of Brizzy, and of course all the theme parks are there too.

There's just so much to see and do, I hope you have time to get to some of them. Have fun!

We went to Brissy and loved it. Must see attractions include Southbank with its pools and arts culture, the Queen Street Mall, the botanical gardens along the river, Chinatown and Fortitude Valley for the atmosphere, the Mount Coot-tha lookout for the views, and also make sure you grab a day pass to use on the ferries along the river. They're a good way to get a good feel for the city, dirt cheap and simple to use. Stop at Eagle Street Pier for a bite to eat at one of the restaurants. If you have time, make sure you take a trip either up the coast to the Sunshine Coast or down to the Gold Coast. I'd suggest Noosa or nearby towns on the S.C. because I didn't think much of the G.C. - too busy. Noosa's got some lovely places to stay and some great restaurants. Get on to one of the big real estate agencies for holiday rental accommodation.
