I'm moving to Australia for college and I have a million questions!?

Like I said I'm moving to Australia in January 2009 to go to Hillsong College. I'm soo excited! But I have soo many questions. How easy is it to get a job? How much is the public transportation? How much is minimum wage? Has anyone gone to Hillsong college who could give me tips about it? Any ideas on how to meet people once I'm there? How much does an average part time job make? What to buy when I get there, and what to bring with me? And any other helpful tips or anything would be greatly appreciated! I'm seriously moving half way across the world and I would like to be somewhat prepared lol. Thanks!!!

I'm sure Hillsong will do any thinking that needs to be done for you.

Surprising that you have not recieved this information from the people themselves .. but since I have a low opinion of htis organisation maybe not so surprising. There is a small amount of information on their website http://www2.hillsong.com/college/default.asp?pid=587

That's a lot of money to pay to an organisation that might give you a piece of paaper not highly regarded by many outside their own little world. Good luck, hope you have a better time than some of their welfare program clients, who have been treated in a harsh and unprofessional mannaer instead of being helped in a spirit of care and competence.

Minimum pay in a retail job is about $16/hr for an adult, less if 21 or under, and there's plenty of jobs available. Good luck!

I would suggest you talk to Hillsong - they are in the Norwest Area and are H U G E !!! I'm sure they would help you with all your information.
You must have a visa that permits you to work - check with Australian Immigration.
Public transport is not cheap but depends on where you go, distances travelled etc. There is a website for this - google sydney or n.s.w. rail/bus/ferries
Wages depend on the type of work you do ... not sure how to help you with this but a pizza delivery person could probably earn $14 an hour.
Shopping here is very much like any other first world country .. good food, clothing, etc. however a little more expensive.
Bring clothing for all seasons ... but no snow here unless you go to the Snowy Mountains for recreational purposes ... We usually dress very casually, and are a rather "laid back" relaxed race!
I'm sure you will meet lots of people at your College.

Good luck to you
