Don't move to Brisbane... You don't deserve it you are a good person... Go South 100km to Gold Coast if yo want to live in a city... But I'm only a country boy I live 600kms north of Brisbane and i hate Brisbane so much... It boring, it's smelly and the people suck..... |

Good for you. For those who don't know, Brisbane is the capitol of Queensland Australia. The central heart of Brisbane City is 30Min's from Brisbane airport. I suggest that you do some research on renting (if that is what you are planning) as the areas around the City can be very expensive. If you wish you can email me for any queries on the city surrounds, I used to live there but now live in the rural area. Kay |

Have fun!
I have family in Sandgate, Margate, Clontarf and Redcliffe.
However, I do not know how far/close it is to the city. |

I used to live in brisbane, lived in Yeronga, Yeerongpilly and Cannon Hill - Liked all of them!! None of those suburbs are far from the city/valley which is handy for weekends. I would stick to the southside |

NEW FARM! excellent strip of restaurants, and not too far from the river. Excellent New Farm park. Rent for 2 bedroom apartment around 200 and above a week.
Spring hill, very close to the city, never lived htere, but lots of friends do.
Mowbray park, Hamilton, Bulimba and Ascot are not bad choices either. All of them within zone 1 or 2. |

I lived in Red Hill and Ashgrove when I was there, and I think that's probably one of the best places to be. No train lines, however, but it's good.
If you go a little south of the city, this is where most of the alternative lifestyle people live - if you like old houses and such. Further south, like Oxley, is getting to where the derros of Brisvegas live. It's not bad, but you do have to contend sometimes with the Abos there.
Don't go near Ascot, Clayfield, Hamilton or New Farm - unless you're worth millions. That's the rich part of town, evidenced by the two racecourses that are there (you should go there one day - Doomben is the best. I used to work there ^^)
Indooroopilly and suburbs around there aren't bad, actually. A lot of uni students, because of UQ, but it has a great set of shopping centres. Same with Kangaroo Point - although that area is a bit ritzy too - has a popular private school there (Churchie).
But I found generally, Indooroopilly or those areas or Red Hill and those areas are the best. But it depends on your lifestyle - a lot of people like West End and its areas (which is south of the city) |
