Diving on the Great Barrier Reef. It's dying because of human caused global warming, so better see it while it's still there.

Sydney is cool (climb the harbor bridge!), also the outback (Coober Pedy, Uluru).

Sydney is the place to start. It is the oldest, biggest and most interesting city in the country with many things to see and do. I wouldn't recommend the Gold Coast to my worst enemy but some people seem to like it.

For information about Sydney look at What's on in Sydney here:

Melbourne is such a beautiful place, rent a car drive along Great Ocean Road to see 12 Apostles, you'll never regret !

Don't miss out on Western Australia's Top End Broome etc you'll love it not as touristy as Brisbane and the Queensland North Coast.

depends on what your into?

if you want nightlife and action then I suggest Sydney (NSW) or Gold Coast (QLD) possibly Melbourne (VIC)

Queensland is a great place to visit... we have everything from Beaches, Vinyards, Outback, Forests... you can start your tour in Brisbane/Gold Coast and work your way up the east coast visiting towns along the way and head all the way up to the Cairns (Tropic of QLD) up there you have the Great Barrier Reef and many tourist things like Diving, Snorkling, Boating and so on...

In all honesty I would highly recommend the Gold Coast... even if it's only for a few days... there's plenty of friendly people down here and many many tours and sights!!!

I hope you have fun!!!

I agree. If you are only coming for a very short time, you must spend it in Adelaide. Plenty to do and see, young vibrant town with a great history and lots going on all the time.

Sydney is my new favorite city and Melbourne is a great time as well. I completely agree with rootbeer. The Great Ocean Road is amazing and the 12 apostles beach is beautiful. Its a shame there are only 8 now. I only got to spend two weeks in australia and didnt get a chance to go up to the great barrier reef but thats the other spot i wanted to go visit. I heard from locals that adelaide is pretty boring but Perth is a great city too. Of course its all by itself over on the west coast. I rented a wicked camper with a couple buddies and definitley wouldnt suggest it since ours broke down in goulburn. I suggest renting a car (we got one from hertz that was really cheap) and splitting time between melbourne and sydney. Have fun on your trip!
