Australia,s a great place to live no matter what colour you are. Colour has nothing to do with it.One thing though you might want to drop the ive got attitude. |

Oz is definitely not the place for an American...we have no where near the amount of serial killers, guns, school yard shootings, political unrest, religious fundamentalists, mental disorders, arrogance, fat, hypocrisy, or hate that you'd be used to, honestly you'd be bored. |

Australia is a spectacularly beautiful country. It also varies markedly from city to city in terms of weather, culture and activity, just as it does in the US.
Generally speaking, Australians don't like arrogance or grand-standing, and are not receptive to being told how to do things by persons from other countries. We also tend to have a dry, sometimes sarcastic, sense of humour, and are fond of good-naturedly taking the p*** out of everyone and everything.
But we are friendly and usually tolerant of others. It's safe, clean, modern, and our standard of living is high. We know how lucky we are to live here.
If you're prepared for a slower pace of life than you're perhaps used to, you won't regret coming here. It wouldn't matter if you were orange, it's a fantastic place to live, and a wonderful place to raise children. |

Australia is a multicultural society and more interested in your skills and age. But generally Australia when rated on Lifestyle, Corruption , Democracy etc comes in well ahead of the US along with the Scandinavian countries and Switzerland.
Australia is the only country in the World whose Federal Government is debt free.

Today AUSTRALIA is the only safe place to live. All true Aussies are very friendly. It is a warm and friendly place to live especially in the country towns. |

Australia is OK. I've lived and worked in every state - except Tasmania because it was too cold. (Sorry Tassie). For the most part, it is OK. There is an element of racism in the country even if people don't like to admit it, but it is kept in check most of the time by common decency and self-restraint.
People will speak their minds if they don't like you, and that does not come back to skin colour or religion: if you're a d*ckhead then you'll be told regardless of your background.
The beaches are among the best, if not THE best, in the world. The inland areas vary from sandy desert, scrubby desert, red dirt desert to farmland, over-cleared farmland and salt plains. There's tropical rainforest in the north, and plenty of snow skiing in the south in the winter. The natural landscape is very beautiful.
There is a plethora of work going in Western Australia at the moment. They are facing critical staff shortages and hiring a lot of people from overseas to keep up with the demand. You won't have any problem finding well paid work in the mining industry, even if you do not have experience. Jobs start around A$60,000 a year for little experience, and average about A$90,000 - A$100,000 for skilled labour. That's fantastic money for here where the average award wage pays around A$28,000 - A$35,000.
There is a pub culture in most places. Going to the pub is the thing after work or on weekends. Be prepared to misunderstand a lot of the conversation for a few days though. A lot of slang and colloquialisms get bandied about and conversation can be interesting to try and keep up with until your ear gets tuned.
The climate is well-geared for an outdoor lifestyle. Football in all its forms are popular. Swimming and athletics are pretty high on the agenda as well. Motorsports and other types of racing also draw decent crowds. Just about any sport - indoor or outdoor - are played over here, so you'll find whatever you're looking for.
The sense of humour is unique to say the least. For an idea of the humour, watch the Australian film: The Castle. It has some of the most quoted lines in it. Another good film is: Aussie Rules. Priscilla Queen of the Desert is also another quirky Australian film.

Like all other countries Australia has immigration rules which you should check out at this site http://www.immi.gov.au/.
If you were to come to Australia we would care more about who you are rather than the colour of your skin. We are a multicultural country who, for the most part, enjoys what other nationalities bring. Zealots are not well received.
In comparison to the US we do not have the wide range of consumer choice that you have in the US but we are by no means backward. Our lifestyle is fairly laidback. The weather can vary from very hot in the northern and central parts to quite cold in places like Tasmania during the winter. The pace of lifestyle will depend on where you chose to live - faster in places like Sydney and Melbourne. We generally love sports like Cricket, Basketball, Football (Rugby. League, Australian Rules and Soccer), Hockey and Swimming to name just some.
I am sure you would enjoy the experience. |

Why on earth would you instantly describe yourself as a White man? That reeks of attitude instantly. Why didn't you say you are a fat, balding man from the US, or a spunky, hardworking man from the US, or a married man with kids from the US? Why colour? If this is so major with you, I suggest you stay at home in the US - Australia doesn't need another bigot. |

Australia is the best place in the world to live but immigration is very difficult. Unless you have a skill set that is in demand in Australia, you will not be able to get an immigrant's visa. |

90 something % white, so if you want to be with your own kind you'll be happy. But having such a majority of white means that, generally, Australia can be intolerant of those not white, especially in Queensland. New Zealand has better race relations and the people are friendly, but the standard of living isn't as high as Australia, if that's also your thing. Aussie is a good place to live by the way. The police carry guns there. They don't in NZ. |
