I am going to Australia this July for a month. What must I see and do there?

I am staying with my family out there in Sydney, and they are almost willing to take me anywhere that I want to go. Also when should I buy airfare? Right now I found a round trip flight from Detroit to Sydney for $1200. Is that a good price? Thanks for your help. :)

OK. where do i start

1. climb the bridge
2. go to the opera house
3. tour the opera house or go to a show there
4. check out the royal gardens which is right next to the opera house
5. go to the top of the sydney tower and check out the view
6. take a harbour cruise around the harbour
7. check out taronga zoo
8. go to darling harbour, its a sweet place
9. go to a koala park (theres on outside of north sydney that i visited. its pretty cool i thought it would be lame
10. just wander around
11. china town
12. i dont know how adventerous your family is but id say the great barrier reef and the area around port douglas and cairns is lovely (probably too far) about a 3 hour flight
13. check out the rocks, theres a few good restuarants.
thats all i got

$1200 is a great price. Mine was almost $2000 and I only live in Philadelphia. I went in July too last year. It is a great city. I went for two weeks and can't wait to get back. Go to Bondi Beach. Their are neat stores there. Take a fairy to Manly Beach. I took surfing lessons their and it was awesome. The wetsuits protected us from the cold water. They have a neat town their with an outdoor mall right by the fairy terminal. You should have a great time.

1200 is a bargain. Get it before they hit you with petrol surcharges. Sydney is a pretty amazing city if you like cities. Whilst in Sydney, even in July, ( I am figuring the cold weather doesn't bother you too much since you live in Michigan,) you might like to see the Blue Mountains. They are World Heritage listed and very beautiful. Obviously Sydney does have some great beaches but July is not the time to be catching a wave - not without a wetsuit.
Don't buy any local airfares until you get here. they - the local domestic carriers, often have sales, esp. on the internet. You should see the Great Barrier Reef, its about 4 hours flight from Sydney but in July - it has the best weather.
Just be aware it is a really big country, and Sydney is a really big city like L.A., spread out for ages.

that is a good price my ticket was over 2000 dollars.
but mine was from perth to L.A. so its diff but these days flights are getting expensive.
since you are going to sydney you shoud go to the sydney opera house it really is a beautiful site to see. you could also go to the sydney harbor bridge its a main tourist site. (my uncle has to walk over it everyday to get to work.)
there is alot in sydney to do but if you go for a long time maybe you should chek out a different state like my fave perth its so pretty there. you got great hotels and really pretty beaches
oh thats another thing you should go to the beeches they are so pretty in australia

hope i helped :)

$1200 is an extreme bargain! I've flown Detroit-Sydney 19 times and the lowest I remember seeing is $1700. Buy that ticket today!

As far as things to do, it's definitely worth seeing a show at the Opera House. Featherdale Wildlife park is a neat place for non-Aussies to visit, because it's a zoo with all Australian animals, and you can pet koalas and kangaroos. One of my favorite places is the top of the hill at Watson's Bay. Neat view of the city, and you're right next to the ocean. And the ferry ride to get there is really nice. Grab lunch at Doyle's while your there, too. And the Blue Mountains is a great suggestion as well.

If you like food, you will be amazed at the restaurants here compared to Detroit. Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, Greek, Turkish, Indian, you name it, it's here.

Sydney's a great city to just walk around and take in the sites. Even in July the weather won't be a problem for you. I've been here for 4 years, and I've never worn anything heavier than a sweatshirt and jeans. A wee bit better than a Detroit winter, eh?

great price. there is soo much to do. climb the bridge, restaurants, visit the blue mountains
