Sorry mate you'll still be stuck on 9! Canberra is the Capital of Australia and its really not worth visiting. If your interested in why sydney isn't the capital, read Bill Bryson's 'Down Under', its a great read.
I've been to 8 - London, Edinborough, Belfast, Dublin, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Wellington (NZ), Suva (fiji). It would have been 9 but I gave Canberra a miss when I went to Australia. Hope you have a great Xmas there. |

You'll need to go to Canberra if you want to go to Australia's Capital City.
Sydney is NOT the Capital City of Australia it's the State Capital of New South Wales.
All the same, I'm glad you're excited to be coming here.
Just remember it is the middle of our Summer.
I hope you intend to look at more than just Sydney.
We have a lot to offer.
Sydney:
Average Temperatures for December
Average High 26 ÂșC (79F) Average Low 18 ÂșC (64F)
Canberra:
Average Temperatures for December
Average High 25 ÂșC (77F) Average Low 12 ÂșC (54F) |

I went to Sydney August 2005 and loved it. So clean and people so friendly. Whilst we were there we did the harbour bridge climb which is a great experience especially if you do a twilight climb as you will then see day and night views of the harbour. make sure you get on a ferry and see manly beach...very pretty. Bondi is ok but not as nice.
We did a harbour luncheon cruise and really enjoyed that. it took a couple of hours and provided ideal photographic opportunities of the harbour, opera house and bridge. We also saw the millionaires houses. Gorgeous!!!! I remember feeling so in awe of Sydney because there is so much to see and do. Touching the tiles on the opera house was magic. Weather in December will be warm.
Make sure if you are there for new years eve that you book a dinner on the boat so you can see the fireworks go off in the harbour at midnight. Book now as it gets booked up fast. Also assume you have booked your hotel accommodation? If not book it now.
We also did a day trip to the blue mountains which was well worth it. Going on the blue mountain railway was fabulous and taking the photos of the beautiful scenery.
Have a fantastic time.
Oh and make sure you go to Sydney Tower. it's a great view of Sydney from the top of the tower and you Can post your postcards from it's mailbox which is the highest post box in the southern hemisphere.!!!
Canberra is the capital of Australia although many mistakenly think it's Sydney. Easy mistake to make.
I have visited:
Paris,
London,
Bangkok
Nadi (Fiji)
Sydney,
Brisbane,
Melbourne,
cairns
(Ayers Rock) was superb and i urge you to go.
Helsinki,
Valetta (malta)
Gozo
Amsterdam,
Belgium
Loads of cities in uk...too many to list |

Penfold, I thought I might just tell you that Auckland's not the capital of New Zealand, Wellington is. A bit like the perception that Sydney's the biggest in Oz, so it must be the capital. And for me, four. Paris, France; Singapore, Singapore; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Canberra, Australia. Happy travels. And asker, if you want an Australian city to be the tenth capital you've visited, go to Canberra! |

If you're classing this question as capital cities of states, I've been to Melbourne, Darwin, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Peth and Hobart - that's all of them... there aren't ten.
If we're going for capital cities of countries, like a few people have said, Sydney isn't the capital, Canberra is. Let's see: Canberra, Vienna, Brussels, Prague, Copenhagen, Helsinki,Paris, Berlin (Bonn too when it was), Rome, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, Oslo, Stockholm, Bern, London, Dili, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Cairo, Port Villa... 22, phew! |
