you must visit Southbank parklands. Lots of museums and performing arts centre there too. Visit the Castlemaine four X brewery, Lone Pine Loala sanctuary, Mt Cootha, Botanic Gardens, good shopping. There is lots to do along the coast a few hours from Brisbane too if you have time. Glasshouse Mountains, Bribie Island, North Stradbroke Island, Fraser Island, Montville and Maleny are lovely. Check out the tourist office. Have a ball. The Valley or Fortitude Valley is the name of the red light district. It's not really dangerous but be careful all the same. The Story Bridge Pub sometimes does some theme nights.

first GO AUSSIES!!!!!

Thers some things in brisbane like South Bank and the Queen ST. mall but for ACTION go to the ajor theme parks on the gold coast 1.5 hours from BNE.

Wet 'n' Wild water park, Dreamworld (Rollor Coasters and oh, its SOOOOO much fun!) Seaworld and movie world does not live up to the standard as most "experts" rate it.

Also the Sunshine coast 1 hour north of Brisbane. There is Noosa, Coolum (Surf Towns) and the World Heritage Glasshouse mountains. I live on the Sunshine Coast but if u have to choose, go to the gold coast where there is also Surfers Paridise.

GO AUSSIES!!!!!!!!

And for the game, try to get some food before you get to the Gabba as prices at the ground are are outrages. They will serch but they should only take the forbidden things.

NO cans, Glass bottles or arcohole

O and Skippy, Get F'd girl. Where do u live???? Brisbane behind Darwin has the least no-australian born population for the Capitals!!!!

There is a few asians (500-1000 of a 2 million population) but not like Sydney!

As a travel agent and resident of brisbane, you ask a question i get alot.

The things you take for granted.

Well depending on what you are into there is much to see around brisbane.

check out http://brisbane.citysearch.com.au/ for all the cultural and must see attractions

Culture wise you have the state museums, art galleries etc. .

Social wise there are many great pubs and clubs, not to mention some world class restraunts.

The city is also a easy 1 hour drive/ transfer to some world class attractions and beaches (gold coast and sunchine coast)

I would however suggest that if you havent already done so book your accommodation. brisbane accommodation fills very quickly and quite offen books out when there are sporting evens in town.

anyway if you have any further question feel free to ask me

cheers

There a lot of things you can do in Brisbne, or if you get bored you can jump on a train and go to the Gold Coast, visit Dream World, Sea World, walk on the best beaches in the world!
If you are into art, the Art Gallery is just a small walk from the city centre as is the Museum. There is a science Museum also, there a lot of shopping, a walk around the city is very interesting. The Botanical Gardens on the Brisbane River is worth a look. Maybe a ferry ride along the river. You can get a bus to Australia Zoo. You can visit the Sunshine Coast, lots of things to do there. these things are not big trips!
Try www.ourbrisbane.com.au for ideas. I suggest you google Brisbane and see what is there.
Lots of luck, pity you are coming to see the Aussies win!!!!

There's an island off the coast of brisbane called tangaluma (it's spelled something like that) take a boat trip there n stay a day. it's beautiful n fun.

its a small town , you can hangout downtown where the pedestrain mall st is or go about ten minutes away to another sector where cafes and s boutquies are found also north of town by train is the sunshine coast and south is the gold coast

Skippy
Hang out with all the other Britts & Irish, it's not as if there are any Australians in Brisbane. I went for a tour a round the XXXX brewery which was quite cool buit apart from that just kinda bummed around town because there isn't much in the city. You can go up the gold coast to the fab beaches and theme parks but it's a long way on the bus and I wouldn't reccomend Movie World, it cost of $60 to get in and was really quite pathetic
