From a great website :

Can you get SKY Satellite TV in Australia?

Well, for those interested, unfortunately you cannot get SKY TV here in Australia (boooo!). If you think about it, your SKY Satellite dish might be pointing skywards in the UK at the Sky Satellite deep in Space but down under, around the other side of the world we can’t even see this Satellite.

Thankfully though we are not only limited to the 5 terrestrial channels here in Australia. We have a Sky equivalent here in Aus called Foxtel.

Foxtel was formed through a joint venture between Telstra and News Corporation (Rupert Murdochs mates). With the Foxtel service you’ll find many of the same features you’ll be familiar with as a Sky user such as IQ (aka Sky+), the EPG and Red Button Active.

So What will you be able to Watch on TV here in Australia?

At time of typing the current channel line up is as follows:

News and Documentaries

Animal Planet
BBC World
Bloomberg Television
CNBC
CNN
Crime & Investigation
Discovery Channel
Discovery Health
Discovery Science

How much does it cost?

The packages start at $37.95 per month (approx ÂŁ16) Rising to $64 (ÂŁ27) for the full lot.

For those big Sky Sports fans who like their UK premiership games, you’ll find many of the big games on both the terrestrial channels and also on Foxtel.

However, don’t expect the full on Premiership coverage that you’d get in the UK. Here in Australia this precious airtime is handed over to sports such as AFL or similar.

So there you go.

Finally; remember the ‘Sky’ here in Australia has this big thing called Sunshine in it, so you won’t miss it that much

But Why??

your coming to Australia, get off the couch.

Sky is rubbish, you're better off going for what's available and popular over there imo. Don't put any more money in Mr Murdoch's pocket. Are you the kind of person who takes their TV with them in the caravan when you go on holiday and just sit watching it instead of getting away from all of that?

Adam B
you can not receive sky off of 28.2 in aussie land because the footprint is over europe.fox is a really good service and the closest thing you will get to sky.i know an a guy who installs it over there and he said its better than sky,but he is half aussie.hope this helps.

CaptainTrips
If what you want is UK Sky you are out of luck. The satellites for Sky are in the Northern hemisphere so Australia is out of the line of sight for them. If your dish can't see the satellite it can't receive the signal.

rpetch007
it cost a lot but only in the pubs in Australia ..if you want it it can be done ..

man_united99
it costs a fair bit because foxtel adds you to bundles and unfortunately you cant pick a single channel out. the cheapest deal you can get with sky tv is $38 (AU) per month. This includes 30 channels and is the starter pack. Most of them are cool but like 8 of them are junk. for sports it costs $18 more for 7 channels, movies its $16 for 6 channels. Unfortunately the deals arent the greatest and you cant pick just sports or just sky tv packages. So your best option is to pick the starter and get $38 of mostly american channels but includes sky tv. Unfortunately no football is on tv so you'll have to do without the premier league.

rowanc88
No you can't get Sky in Australia. At all.

Get Foxtel, it's owned by the same company, the set top box is EXACTLY the same, and a fair amount of channels are the same.
(Foxtel has more live EPL matches anyway)

L B
yes you can get Sky, but the programmes may not be the same.

Foxtel is our main paytv but there are a couple of other options. It has UKTV but it's pretty old series. Premier League and Championship Soccer. UK News. Our free ABC and other channels have a fair few UK Shows. I don't think you can get Sky in Adelaide but Fox is about $50 bucks a month.
