Mr. Last Minute
I work with a lot of people moving here from all around the world.
Firstly, don't make the mistake of thinking all of Australia is the same. Each region has its own flavour.
Adelaide is very laid back, Sydney, Brisbane very busy, Perth quite pioneering and Darwin - well it's just Darwin!
Each area has something to recommend it.
It can be very difficult to move to Australia, particularly if you are unskilled, over 45 or have no relatives here.
Personally I love Adelaide, I moved here 25 years ago from country SA, but my wife moved to Adelaide via Sydney from Essex in the early 70's. Since then, I've spent a lot of time with English migrants, and while they miss family at times, they love living here.
Here's an interesting stat - 40% of English migrants decide to go back to England within 5 years - but over half of those return to Australia within 2 years.
When the company I work for recruits from England, we always do it after Christmas, in the depths of winter!
And now, I must return to watching the Test Match! Another great reason to be an Aussie!

Australia is a beautiful and diverse place, but asking if it is worth living here is a hard question to answer.

Moving from your home country is only worth it if you can support yourself.

Are you skilled in some area of employment? There are alot of areas that need trades here and you could come over as a skilled worker.

Another thing to consider is what you are leaving behind? Visiting is one thing, living here is another. How about your family? Will they come too? When will you visit those left behind? The Australian dollar is weak compared to the english pound. You may not be able to afford to get back to England any time soon.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm also leaving my country (Venezuela) for a better place to live, and after travelling all around the world, I chose Australia as the place to migrate. The migration process is not that complicated if you have a profession that's on demand.

Depends if you use the long form or the short form. And if the government printing office still issues these instruments of departure. Personally, there are better places than England and Oz.

Paultech
i would, all year summer, but there is lots of red tape, unless you marry and oz person.

Nemesis
You probably would feel more like getting out of bed in the morning if you did. Just ignore the yanks on here they don't know any better.

jeepguy_usa
It depends on if the Wizard still lives there, you could forget the paperwork and just follow the Yellow Brick road, but since the witch for killed the developers have moves in and made the Emerald City kind of a shadow of that it used to be with all the strip malls and such. But hey see if you can meet up with Dorothy, I hear she's a hottie!
