I agree with the others. Beaches and Shopping! No other country has those!!

IF you are a beach person, you can try the Gold Coast and the Sunshine coast. The former is more commercialized and the latter natural. If you like shopping ,there are a number of shopping complexes on the Gold Coast though they are nothing if compared with those in other parts of Asia or even Southeast Asia. There are fun parks like Dream world and a few more.THere is always a rather big casino there if you haven't been to the one on Genting Highlands in Malaysia.Brisbane itself there's not much to see.

Catch a footy game at the Gabba!

Surfers Paradise, naturally! Southbank in downtown Brisbane is pretty cool. Plus the Queen street mall for shopping and entertainment. For night life go to "The Valley" any local will point you there. Catch the train to the Australia Zoo too.

It's a great city, lived there 2 years.

notice how the other answers pointed you out of the city i.e go to the gold coast or the sunshine coast or Australia zoo etc, that's because Brisbane is a boring as bat $h!t,give it the wide berth and go to the other places they recommended or head North up to cairns or pt Douglas.

brisbane isn't far away from the goldcoast, on the main highway to goldcoast their is an amusement park call dreamworld, it has the funnest and scary rides their. their are shops and everything. it also is the place where the big brother house is. their is also another amusement park called movie world, it isn't as good as dreamword but still good at that. they both cost about 40 dollars for children and bout 80 - 100 dollars for adults and i think seniors get in for free. and their is wet and wild, water park. mad fun. cost unkown but it is cheaper that movie and dreamworld.

Byron Bay is quite near Brisbane, you can get a bus i think it takes about 2-3 hours. It is a really cool chilled out place full of surfer dudes and brilliant for scuba diving-much better than the day trips from Cairns.

In Brisbane i would do the following:

Catch the city cat ferry up and down the river
Walk through Southbank and the city
Go up the tower clock (City Hall)
Drive up Mt Cootha and enjoy the view (the botanic gardens at the bottom are great too
Go to Wynnum//Manly and walk along the boardwalk

Hop on the train or bus and go down the Gold Coast for a couple of days. It is less than an hour away and has 4 major theme parks. The beaches are beautiful and the hinterland behind the coast is amazing too.

whilst in Brisbane (BNE) you can try :
www.ourbrisbane.com - for information and links about laws, events, shops, special offers.
www.brisbanecitylife.com.au - for exciting tours in & around Bne.
or go to either the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast
I prefer Sunshine Coast more relaxed and not too busy.
go to www.sunshinecoast.au.nu - great website for things to do and places to see - a must!
or go to www.australia-goldcoast.com.au
C'MON DOWN!
