Assuming you have two months, start in Perth for a week. Tour locally, shop, then catch the Indian Pacific to Adelaide. This is one of the great classic train rides- takes three days and two nights. Spend a week or so in Adelaide, visit the wine regions, the museums, and the old goal. Catch the Ghan, another classic train ride to Darwin, take the optional side trip to Uluru, do Alice Springs and Katherine gorge as side trips. This will take about a week. Spend only a couple days in Darwin, then fly to Cairnes. Take the day tour up to Karunda, train up, shop the markets, skyway down, Aboriginal theatre and museum for lunch and entertainment, then back to Cairnes. Take a day to go horseback riding in the mountains west of Cairnes. Visit Atherton and the tablelands. Then fly to Brisbane. rent a car there, do the gold coast and Brissie over three or four days, then drive to Sydney. It is worth visiting, but... if you choose not to see something in Australia, Sydney can be left off the itinerary. Too much traffic, no parking places. If you go to Sydney, stay in the suburbs, and use the commuter trains in and out of the city. Visit Manly while in Sydney... Drive west, over to WaggaWagga, then drop south to Melbourne. Stop in Echuca on the way. It is a couple hours off the direct route, but worth the time. Spend at least a week in Melbourne, see the Mornington Penninsula, tour the Yarra Valley, and visit Hanging Rock. Then turn in your rental car and fly home. This is doable in two months. I will be happy to be your tour guide, to carrry your bags, etc, if I can come along. Have a great vacation! |

To be honest with you i would not go to Sydney!! I mean really if youve seen one city youve seen them all!!! It just has a zoo, a big ugly building where you take a few photos and an ugly coloured bridge that you drive over in 30 seconds!!!!
You need to see the real Australia!!!!!
Like Queensland they have the most beautiful rainforests that you would never get sick of!! Some amazing beaches and great theme parks!! You can also go to the great barrier reef!! ( i would go see that, it may not be here for much longer!)
Then you have the Northern territory!! Uluru and all that open space!!! Hot red days and cool nights not to mention all the stars you would see!!!
And oh my dont forget Western Australia you can swim with Whale sharks, feed dolphins at monkey mia, swim in crystal clear water at broome, see our largest gold mine in Kalgoorlie
Then there is Perth and the swan valley so i hope you like wine!!!
There is esperence, albany and bunbury!!!
And dont forget everything else in between!!!
So i would start in Queensland then go north and around until you get to the WA coast and then travel south from there!!!
Then leave from Sydney back to France just to say youve been there!!!
Have fun!! |
