I know Perth is a city, but what is there to do in the nature side of it?

There is lots to do outdoors. fantastic beaches for diving, boating, jetskiing, swimming, snorkelling etc etc. If you are into walking there is the Bibbulmun Track, Bicycle riding is great around the Swan River, Rottnest Island and along the coast. Kings Park is great, wineries, National Parks, Zoo, Fremantle (prison, markets, little creatures brewery) you could go to a AFL game at subiaco, Araluen Botanic Park, Hillarys Boat Harbor, Adventure World (water park)

Don't see the pinnicles, there along way away and a tad disapointing. Rottnest is the place to go to see nature at its best in Perth

Kings Park could keep you occupied for a day, plenty of native flora to explore there

A day trip to Rottnest Island (40 mins on the ferry) is another option. Go & have a look at the Quokkas (small kangaroo - like marsupial that exists nowhere else in the world)

A trip to Margaret River (3hr drive south), plenty of wineries, caves to explore, giant Karri forests.

From Perth itself, northern side is a gate way to the wild flowers that are so abundant near New Norcia, west you have a massive parklands & walks for the more fit & adventerous, tons of small townships with loads of history, south you have places of natural beuty like wave rock, Albany far south has a big Whaling musium from past times when it was a thriving town because of the whales. The famous Wave Rock at Hyden, the famous Kari tree forest with one of the tallest trees in the world.
That is with out mentioning the fantastic beaches all along the coast line, its a four wheel drive mecca, the fishing is brilliant, scuba diving out on the wrecks or Rottnest Island off the coast, Fremantle has the old prison musium, Kawana has profesional drag racing, I could go on but its a general idea of what Perth area has to offer.

I found Margaret River rather disappointing, a couple of years ago.

OK if you like to visit wineries, I suppose.

I prefer beer, myself. Fortunately there are a few microbreweries in the area.

If you've not been been to Australia before, you might find more of interest on the East coast, starting from Sydney.
