Don't listen to Yahwhooo.. he's obviously one of the idiot fringe of racist monoculturalist Australians. Here's a history lesson for you:
40,000+ years ago: Aborigines migrated to Australia via South East Asia.
1788: British and Irish settlers began migrating to Australia.
19th Century: Significant influxes of Chinese, German and other nationalities.
Post-WWII: Lots of new arrivals from Southern and Eastern Europe.
1970s-present: Lots of new arrivals from South and South East Asia, Middle East, Africa.
As you can see, we're a country of migrants - non-English immigrants have played a huge hand in our economic and cultural growth. Most people have no problems with migration and appreciate the benefits that it has brought. Some people dislike immigrants and simply 'tolerate' their presence. Others, like Yahwhooo, are opposed to migration because they believe bad news stories about gangs, crime, etc.
As for Adelaide specifically, it's probably one of the most tolerant cities in the country: there are large immigrant populations, but we haven't had the same social 'problems' seen in Sydney and Melbourne. There is no real tension between particular groups (as was the case between white Australians and Lebanese in Sydney that sparked the Cronulla riots a couple of years ago).
Long story short: Adelaide's a great place to migrate. I have migrant & international student friends that generally find no problems at all with racism. |

You asked: “…if racial discrimination is rampant in Adelaide South Australia?”
To answer your question, the answer is NO, nor is discrimination rampant in “Australia” or any of its major cities!
(The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary definition for rampant: marked by a menacing wildness, extravagance, or absence of restraint. b: profusely widespread) |

Australia whether we like it or not we does have racism, prejudices and bias. What country doesn't though? Australia is a multicultral country with vast acceptances of different nationalities. However racism does rear it's ugly head from time to time. So in answer to your question. No not "Rampant". If you moved here, you would most likely not have any problems, but there are people out there that would say something vulgar to you at some point. |

No definitely not
We are extremely multicultural and accepting in our city, as well as our country!
Australia is famous for it's immigrant "hospitality" so we are definitely not discriminatory against any age, race, etc
I hope you enjoy it here! |

I don't think you would experience racial harassment if you moved here. It you did, it would be very little, by stupid people anyway. We have so many different cultures living here i don't think it would have any affect, and everyone is very accepting! |

Why do you ask? Why are you worried? If you are Asian, Adelaide has been flooded with Asians who are causing problems everywhere, If you are Lebanese its the same, now we are getting all the Sudenese and are already experiencing murders and gangs all over town. These people always cry Racial Discrimination yet they are the problem, All the drugs in Adelaide are run by Lebenese and Asian gangs, all the prostitution is mainly Asian, so no there is no discrimination here, if there is its against white Aussies, so if your a westener, maybe there is, but if your Asian, Lebenese or Sudenese, Nah!! you'll be fine, come on down, go to Centerlink, we will give you money, housing, food, clothes find you jobs and give you thousands when you have a child, its a great state for immigrants, C'mon down bring the relatives. |
