only if you have a trade or are a medical proffessional, Oz makes it a little easier for Brits and Kiwi's, but not for anyone else unless you qualify for refugee status......
Reading the answers above Im desperate to know who told the californian Oz expert that the cost of living in Oz is high?????? Sure Sydney is rated as the most expensive city in the world - thats one tiny place on the oz map, but as for the rest of Oz where else in the first world countries could you buy a big beach front brick house on a huge block for under 200K or rent a 4 bed room home on the beach for $250 a week both in highly popular eastern coastal towns and it gets cheaper on the west coast- (these are shown in Oz dollars) |

Depends what you term a good job. If you have a trade or skills, then you`ll have no problem. Also, if you just want to work at any old job, if you`re hard working & reliable you will get a pretty good job. There is a labour shortage in Australia, especially skilled. |

Our taxes are high but our health care is cheap, our education is cheap, and our welfare system means everyone gets a fair go... (although there are people who abuse this, there are others who desperately need help)
You will have to have some basis for moving here so I suggest you apply for a visa first and job-seek second, if you don't have a profession. |

My aunt lived in Australia for a couple of years. She had a BSW. She could not work in that field because she was a US citizen. The point: it depends on what kind of job you are looking for. Taxes are high and so is the cost of living. So, why not just stay here. We have several states to choose from. And in those states there are many places to choose: small town, big city, suburb, rural...Stay here! We need you! |

Depends on what you can do. Probably not, but then again, i'd have a look around on employment sites, etc. |

I moved to Australia with my wife and two sons (1 and 5 at the time) in early 2002. It was - hands down - the best decision of our lives. The type of work I do meant we had to move to Sydney (not our first pick). But we grew to love it, made many friends and were able to take advantage of Australia's best asset (having a quality life that is not defined by ones work). And we were able to travel a fair bit to other places.
Regarding the work, it really depends on what you do. Sorry to repeat what you've already read, but you didn't specify much in the question - so I'll assume you're coming with a trade or maybe just a strong back, as opposed to being a professional looking for your next 'career move'. If my assumption is correct, then I agree with what was said above. If you are an honest, hardworking person - you should have no problem. But come with a small nest egg (maybe US $20,000 to $50,000 depending on your family situation) as it may take you a while to land something (and you'll need a car, insurance, etc. in all but the heart of a few cities)
One thing though, a fairly well paying job is important if you're looking to settle down. We have had to move to Europe temporarily to save up some money to enter that Sydney housing market - which is insane if you're used to markets in all but the most expensive US cities (NY, San Francisco, etc.).
Best of luck. |

you have to have a great job here first.
If you don't have alot of money. You must have important skills that they want. you will need proof of your ability like having a job.
Australia doesn't want another bum to take care of. |

I think depends on where you go and what you looking for? If you like come to just for long term visiting (12 mths), I don't think that is hard to get a job in retail and hospitality area.
But if you like come to stay for good, you better find out more before you make any decision. |
