Try the Gold coast or if you want an area a little less populated try the tweed coast or the far north coast area, just as good as the gold coast without as many people.

Bay of Pearls?

I personally loved Ceduna, SA and Esperance, WA...but these might be a bit far away and are much harder to access if you can't drive...

More driver-friendly destinations include perhaps Mildura, up on the Murray river in Victoria (hot in summer but a beautiful spot) and Warrnambool on the Victorian coast!

If possible apply for a job on Thursday Island or Horn Island, in Torres Strait. (There are the occassional vacancies.)
There's a very relaxed life style, no need to drive, wonderful people and you're surrounded by pristine tropical waters.

The Central Coast? Around The Entrance?

Port Stephens?

Port Macquarie?

Forster / Tuncurry?

Coffs Harbour?

Gold Coast has a good transport system! And trains into Brisbane City, but the buses go everywhere (shops, beaches you name it) and are always around. Beautiful beaches.
