Are they wanting to live here so you can all have a better life? I doubt you'l be homesick for long. Give your parents a break - moving overseas will be stressful enough for them as it is! Most people would kill for the chance.

Give it a chance! you may actually find that you like it here. Don't know where you are coming from, but you can always move back when you are old enough.

AND BTW: Rude and racist people: Found in every country in the world. Including New Zealand. And Africa is one of the most racist places on the planet!
Crocs: Only live in the northern areas of Australia. And they don't roam around the streets. You just keep out of their habitat.
Snakes: Have lived in Australia for 38 years (22 of them in the country, on a farm) and I have NEVER seen a snake in the wild.
Sharks: Also found in other parts of the world other than Australia. Again, i have never seen one on the wild.
Spiders? Never been bitten yet. Just take care.
Expensive real estate? Well, you have us there, but with the GFC prices are coming down in most areas.
And if you can remember the phrase "slip, slop, slap" the UV won't really bother you at all!!
A stretch of land running 80km wide around the coast? What does that even mean?

As I said, give it a chance. Australia is a great place. Full of great people from all over the world. You will be fine here!!

EDIT: truthful answer, that is hilarious! I can't believe you wrote all that stuff!! Why on earth do you live here if it is so awful for you?? I cannot even begin to provide an answer to all your ridiculous points (yeah, don't move to Australia the paper is a different size. OMG!)

Ok, good on you. We don't want you here if you don't want to come.

Are you going to throw a tanty of your family does decide to move ?

How much research have you done about Australia ? Do you even know anything about this awesome country ?

Get over yourself, grow up and just go with whatever your family decides. You might actually enjoy living here !

Stairway to heaven
You'll miss out on so much you know.

I'm leaving to go back to scotland tomorrow and I wish I could stay here in Australia, it's really awesome wherever you go. People are actually friendly here and most people would go out of their way to help you.

The ONLY negative is our distance from the rest of the world when it comes to travelling, but it's also a positive. It keeps illegal immigrants away and keeps us relatively safe from war/terrorism/etc..

Dude,

Im leaving the UK to live in Oz, as my citizenship has come through.

It's so much better than the UK- Better weather, cheaper costs, nicer people....

what is there keeping you in the UK?

Trust me, in 10 years time, English will no longer be the mother tongue in England.

OK, it looks like your are the USA. I have a whole list of differences that you can read about, but the number one reason not to live in the AUS compared to the US is the extremely high cost of living. I don't know how old you are or how much your parents are going to be earning here in AUS but let's hope it is ALOT OF MONEY. It's the day to day things that cost so much like FOOD! For exampe: milk here is about $3.20 for a 2 litre container. That is what a gallon of milk in the US costs and there are 3.78 litres in a US gallon, so that makes just about $6.20 for a comparable amount of milk. Pretty much everything except wine ( go figure ) costs 1/3rd to double. Clothes, cosmetics, haircuts, dining out, petrol, magazines, etc. So tell them to be prepared! PS: I went to buy a pair of Nike sneakers yesterday and they were $120.00 at foot locker!!! Did not buy them!

Australia has a much smaller population than Australia: 22 million in AUS, 300 million in America.
Australia's coastline is essentially the only area that can sustain people living since the middle of Australia is dessert, unlike the US which has cities and towns throughout.
Australia is still part of the Queen's commonwealth of England and America is an independent Republic.
Australia has many more government sponsored programs such as national health care than America, therefore the people expect the government to help them out more than people in America.
Australia has less competitive business models ( ie: Coles and Woolies only ) than in America which helps to keep prices down ( in the US ) in the grocery store.
Australia has higher wages in the service and retail industries than in America partly due to the " no tipping ' rule in Australia which is also why in my opinion service is really bad in most pubs and restaurants.
America is 78% white and Christian, Australia is 92% white and Christian but overall Australians are less religious than Americans.
America had a much much higher population of Jewish people than Australia.
Men in Australia are shorter than the men in America.
There is no mail delivery on Saturday in Australia and the postpeople do not pick up mail from your house.
The Australian school year is from late January to mid December whereas the American school year is from early September to mid-June. Australian schools do not have yellow school buses.
The seasons are opposite.
Other than Melbourne, shops ( stores ) close at 5pm on weekdays whereas shops in the US usually stay open until 9pm, some 24 hours a day. Some grocery stores in Australia do stay open later on some days.
Australians get Boxing Day as a public holiday, they don't in the US.
There is no tipping in Australia.
Australians suffer from "Tall Poppy Syndrome" which means they put down people who are successful. This syndrome does not exist in the US.
Australians consume more beer, chocolate and ice cream per capita than the Americans.
Australia drives on the left side of the road, Americans on the right side.
Australia has a higher incident of skin cancers than in America.
In Australia when you go to a party, you bring your own beverages to drink (and in some cases, your own food), in America, your hosts ( who are having the party) supply all food and beverages.
Australia has ute's, the US does not. They used too but they stopped making them.
In Australia, it is compulsory to vote and you get fined if you do not vote. In America, it is not compulsory to vote.
Highway lanes ( Motorway Lanes ) are slightly narrower in Australia than in America.
In Australia, the date is written: day/month/year. In America, the date is written: month/day/year
In Australia, they use military time, for example 1pm is 13:00. In America, only the government and healthcare facilities do that.
In America paper money is all the same size and the same colour. In Australia, paper money is a different size and colour for each denomination. This is good for blind people. Also, Australia has a one and two dollar coin. They also do not have pennies in Australia, so when you pay cash for an item, they either round it up or down, ie: item costs 9.98, you would pay 10.00.
In Australia, it is quite common to see cars parked on residential lawns, you don’t see that much in the US and if you do, it is in the deep south.
In Australia, the paper size is called A4 which is slightly longer than America’s 8 ½ by 11 inch size.
Australia uses the metric system, American only uses metric in healthcare/science industries.
When you have a baby in Australia, the government gives you a check for $5000.00. They certainly don’t do that in the USA.
They have different types of electrical voltage in each country and in Australia, before your electrical appliance will work, you need to flick a switch at the outlet.
