I want to get a birthday cake made and sent to my daughter who is working in Sydney, anyone know if I can? |
My daughter is currently working in Sydney and she`s 33 next week and we would like to get a cake made and delivered to her instead of flowers. We have made a search on the net but have drawn a blank so far.Any help would be appreciated as this will be her first birthday away from any of her family and friends. Thanks in advance. Additional Details Wow what a good response. I actually wanted to know if we could have one made in sydney, she`s a nurse working and living in a place called Penrith. Thanks again for help |

It is very easy to get this done.
The Cheesecake Shop is fantastic and have a range of products covering a wide array such as mudcakes, tortes, specialty cakes, desserts and pavlovas, baked and continental cheesecakes and savouries.
The closest one is in Penrith, but I called and they don't deliver, but the one in Emu Plains (nearby) will deliver. They usually don't deliver for under $50/1 cake, but I explained that you were ordering from the UK and they said that will be fine.
So, just go to the website, choose your cake, then call them. You can pay using credit card. They are very reputable and have stores all over the country.

Hi there! I am a cake decorator and sugarcraft enthusiast and belong to The British Sugarcraft Guild - this is a group of people throughout the UK who all have a love of all things sugar! We make cakes and sugarflowers and much more besides... We are a group of people who do it for fun, for family and friends, as a small business or indeed large commercial venture.
Coming to the point now.... thanks for bearing with me! There is a similar group in Australia called Australia National Cake Decorators Association. I have tried to check on the net for their homepage but was re-directed to:
http://www.cakedirectory.com/cakemuseum/index.html
If you go to this and go to contact area and put your enquiry to them. I'm sure they will be able to put you in touch with someone in the area near to your daughter.
You will be able to get a truly unique cake from this source I'm sure.
Good luck! |

The Sydney Pink Pages http://www.sydneypinkpages.com.au/search_results.asp?search_term=BAKERIES&business_name=&search_type=suburb&street_name=&search_all=1&exact_search=1&exact_showcats=1&exact_page=1&exact_region=&suburb= lists a few hundred bakers. Have a word with the closet baker to your daughter to see if they will bake and deliver. Don't try to deliver a cake from the UK because it may go off before it gets to Oz and Aussie Customs don't like foodstuffs entering the country. |

well one solution to the problem is if you can get hold of a cake maker in australia, order it from them and see if they do a delivery service..ive found one link here you can have a look at http://www.bcl.com.au/shop/birthday.htm |

I'm assuming that you want the cake to be made here in Australia :) Now both the places I have provided links for can be a little on the pricey side but you will definitely get your moneys worth as their work is EXCELLENT. Plus, from the way you've worded your question, it sounds to me like you want to WOW your daughter and let her know that she is in your thoughts.
www.sweetart.com.au
or
www.planetcake.com.au
both have the added bonus of being based in the inner suburbs of Sydney.
I hope this is what you're looking for |

Annie D is generally speaking correct, but it just might be that somewhere like Harrods has had their produce accepted by Australian Quarantine & Customs for import.
Other than that, get onto the web and start looking for Sydney suppliers. |

Afraid not
Australian Authorities won't allow ANY foodstuffs over their borders, they'll confiscate it in Customs.
Try to find a Bakery in Sydney who will deliver, that would be your best bet.
