You can get the Hummer converted when you get here. It is expensive but if you own a hummer then the price wont be an issue. It is also slow and expensive to bring the cars over. I have given you one link to a place that does it, but every capital city and major regional city will have some where to convert them. Car clubs would also be able to direct you where to go. Some states will give you a permit until conversion, but a special plate has to be attached to your car saying left hand drive vehicle. If you weigh up the cost of bringing the Hummer over, and converting it, it seems that it would be better to sell the Hummer and buy one when he gets here. We have Hummers here. |

Yes it is, as long as it's registered. There's a few around - although most people here think they're a complete waste of fuel and space! |

Yes you can drive a Hummer on our roads. i would imagine parking may be an issue though (Although i guess when you drive a hummer you just park where you want to....). Most people in Australia are turning away from the big cars for economic and environmental reasons. |

Yes, right hand drive Hummers are sold here so I'd guess they are allowed on our roads.
I don't know why anyone would want one though.
Your friend does realise we drive right hand drive vehicles here?
I don't know how safe it would be driving a left hand drive vehicle of that size on our roads.
Maybe he could sell it in the USA and buy one here.
The exchange rate is in his favour at the moment.

Suggest either you or your friend contact the relevant Road Authority in your State to see what the requirements are. This may vary from State to State, but in some States driving a left-hand drive vehicle is prohibited.
EDIT: The vehicle will need to be registered in Australia before it can be driven. If the vehicle is less than 15 years old, then it will need to be converted to right-hand drive before it can be registered. So if you friend wants to import the vehicle and convert it at his expense, then register it, certainly he can drive it in Australia. |
