Rotorua smells very bad - as mentioned above. I would suggest that two better options would be Taupo in the North Island or Dunedin in the South Island. |

Rotorua is a nice small town with a population of about 60,000 people; has plenty of activities for families etc. Lakes, Beaches, Mountains all nearby and about a 3 hour drive from Auckland (the biggest city).
Sulphur isnt much of a problem, i have lived in Rotorua before and you only smell it if you go near the thermal areas or when its going to rain the smell seems to creep in.
Jobs might be a problem, depending on what you do; being a small city the options would be more limited.
Check out http://www.rotoruanz.com for some more information. |

Rotorua is OK. You will need to get use to the smell of Sulpher. There are plenty of tourists. |

Yeah it's pretty nice. Especaily if you like the outdoors like hiking and fishing.
But it's got a bit of an underbelly. |

Answering your question, yeah Rotorua is okay, alot of Asian people as Rotorua is a very popular tourist spot becuase of the gyesers etc. It has a certain smell about it but you get used to it very quickly. |

Not my choice but it may suit you I prefer Napier or taupo . Wellington around Ngaio or raumati or Nelson in the South Island |
