Movie cinemas (e.g. Village, Hoyts)
Woolworths
Coles
Target
Kmart
video stores
bakeries (early mornings though!)
newsagent
cafes

The above are all places that either I or my friends worked when we were 15. You could also try places like David Jones and Myer but I they generally tend to hire staff over 16.

The big companies (e.g. Woolworths, Coles, Target) generally have online applications so you should check out their websites. For smaller businesses, wear some nice clothes and drop your resume in to the manager.

Most companies also do their hiring around September/October so staff are trained before the Christmas rush, so I'd apply asap.

Try Coles, Woolworths, Big W and the other department stores. They hire a lot of young people as checkout operators, shelf stackers etc.

I'm from Wollongong and the main places my generation started off working at at 15 included:

- McDonalds (most popular by far)
- Red Rooster
- Hungry Jacks
- KFC
- Best & Less
- Kmart
- Big W
- Woolworths

Now is the best time to be starting to apply, so jump on their websites and fill out an application. They will start recruiting christmas staff now and a lot of christmas staff get to stay on after January.

This is off the official NSW government website::::

There is no minimum legal age limit for starting work in New South Wales. Many teenagers start a part-time or casual job while still at school.

But if you are under the age of 15 and seeking full-time work with the intention of leaving school, you need to seek permission to do this from the Department of Education on 9561 8000.

If you have any questions about your work or pay, you can call the OIR on 131 628.

More info see http://www.youngpeopleatwork.nsw.gov.au/looking/what+age+can+i+start+work.html

******* AS FOR JOBS*******
Coles, other supermarkets, Target, kmart, Office Works, Bunnings, your corner store, at the movie cinema, movie extras (always heaps advertised in the paper where I live) amusement parks, service stations, The Warehouse, - the list is endless.

This site may be worth looking at if you don't want to work in stores etc.. http://www.jobs-for-14-year-olds.com/types/

One other thing and I am not sure if you school does this, but in Qld they have school-based apprenticeships. So you can be at school for 2 or 3 days a week and work the rest and get paid! This way you get a head start on an apprentice. The school career adviser sets it all up for you, might be worth talking to them about it.

Good Luck

pretty much everywhere, bakers delight, Michele's patisserie, coles, Most chemist chains, Woolworth's and lots of little boutique clothes stores.

it might be hard at first. since you have no experience & are so young but places are looking for xmas casuals that's a great place to start looking. try the coles myer online application thing.
try this one: mind challenge ltd. its a sales person job, b first job & they took me at 14 & 9 months. selling toys. great pay. if mind challenge doesn't work, try typing kaleidoscope classic into google. i think its this link:
http://www.drwood.com/challengecenter/index.htm
discount chemist warehouse takes young people
http://www.epharmacy.com.au/chemistwarehouse/welcome.asp

if you want a job, it's best to go to some stores you want a job at & personally hand in your resume. makes a much better impression. other places just tell you to apply online, but at least they've seen you made some effort.

rubez
Try these...
paper delivery
baby sitter
checkout chic/dude
general housekeeping duties (offer the neighbours help with their lawns etc.)

Thats the fun part of being young. Working a job that really sucks so you have something to talk about later in life. It will also give you some motivation to get some credentials for a real job when your older. I use to work at Taco Bell when i was 16, Man it sucked and the pay was dreadful. When I thought uni or my other jobs were tough i went back and I thought about my other career options at Taco Bell and all the older losers I worked with there. I didnt wanna become one of them, so i pushed myself through uni and a masters. Seriously most jobs suck when you are young, but you learn a lot about life from these crap jobs. Good luck!

That's a little hard to answer. You're still very young. Do you have any specific talents or is there something you're really interested in because you could maybe look for an apprenticeship. When you see how much it costs to get a plumber, electrician, painter etc. it would probably be worth getting into something like that because you would get good money later. Building trade is also a good one to get into, e.g. carpentry. Hope you find what you're looking for.
