Id like to buy a house in Sydney |
I'm thinking will now be a good time to buy a house in Sydney. Even though i would like to move there in a year but i am so worried that in a year the houses would have gone up a lot that I won't be able to afford it. Will the market go up or down in that time. Not just in sydney but anywhere in Australia. thanks |

When I answered your other question about how you'd rorted the system by getting a First Home Buyers Grant that you weren't entitled to, you emailed me bleating "how will I pay them back now".
Now I see that you're obviously something of an investor and have plenty of money. Pay the other money back; stop whingeing because you were caught with your hand in the till; watch the market to see if it's going up or down; make your decision accordingly. I think the market's going down, but you're the investor - you have to make your own choice. |

i live in sydney
and atm it's very pricey and it's likely it will get more expensive due to petrol and other things.
either buy it earlier, or just pay more when the time comes.

How I see it is the ratio of the number of people leaving Sydney to the number of people moving to Sydney. If the amount is equal, then the prices are stable but if more people arrive, then the demand for houses increase therefore prices go up. This is just my idea though... not sure if others use this.
Sydney has around 4 million people. Most new home buyers (especially young families) would now opt to buy on the outskirts such as Campbelltown and beyond as lots of new homes are built there and fit their budget.
I'm not a real estate agent or anything so don't take my words completely - just a Year 11 student who tries to help. You should contact a few professionals for advice.
Good luck in buying a new home! |

I live in the UK so it's hard to know the perfect answer, but generally it would make sense to buy as soon as you could afford too as prices generally do go up.
BUT - you know how the world market is at present. In the US and UK house prices are falling. It's is likely that the same thing will happen in Australia.
Your best bet is to contact estate agents in Sydney and see what their opinion is. If you know people living in Sydney who understand the market, find out their opinions. Just remember that there is never a concrete answer. Some expect prices to increase, others say decrease. |
