Elizabeth - I've just read all your questions. It seems you are quite depressed and want a "way out". Believe me you are not, fat nor ugly - you are a teenager going through hormonal changes - I know, I have a 17 yr old son .. believe me, boys are a lot worst!
Can you PLEASE seek some advice through youth call centers or kids help line - they are their to help.
Kids Help Line is Australia's confidential and anonymous, telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25. http://www.kidshelp.com.au and http://www.reachout.com.au
Please ring them.
And from my experience of leaving home young - DON'T do it!! Stay with your parents as long as possible to get a better head start in life.
Email me any time if you want to chat. |

What if a 16 y/o was roaming the streets in Alice Springs or Cairns. What about any small town in America, Canada or any place in the world. I would say thats a dangerous situation. Even though Melbourne, Australia is a relativley safe place. Not of lot of violent crimes going on, not really any gun violence. A 16 y/o girl needs to be at home, out wit friends, or maybe on a date wit her bfriend. |

Besides the usual gag 'everyone dies eventually'...
A friend of mine grew up on the street. It is a lot safer to do in Melb than many other places but I really hope there is another way out for you. There is a lot of support out there but sometimes you might not know where to look. Thankfully another poster before me put on some helpful websites & offered support themselves. Really nice of them.
Good luck to you. |

the same chance as anyone else who walks at all in melbourne.
its been at the wrong place at the wrong time to get killed...no matter how often you walk....once in your life or 5 times a day/night.
just...walk with someone else, get local advice to hear where the no-go zones are after dark and always tell someone where your going...that for any city around the world these days. |

Can answer that by saying..."how well do you know the person nearby in the street". Are they friend or foe? Are they a loving father, serial rapist or serial killer.
Basically all have the same answers and it isn't only limited to one particular city or town |

chances of being killed would be minimal, altho melborne is relatively safe compared to other cities around the world it is none the less a city with unfavourable persons living there who would jump at the chance to take advantage of a 16year old girl.so the answer is most likely you wont be killed but probably a 90% chance you will be raped, beaten and be propositioned by a pimp to prostitute you out.this is not a lie, if you talk to any of the girls that live on the streets all will tell you've they have been raped at least once since living on the street, so whatever your thinking of doing, don't do it!!!! |

I am a sixteen-year-old girl and I have been to Melbourne, and I have to say my odds of being killed there while on the streets alone 24/7 were about as high as they've been while on the streets alone 24/7 in Sydney, London, NYC, Buenos Aires, Paris, or my hometown of LA.
Though, I didn't actually TEST that exact theory by being on the streets 24/7 on my own while I was visiting any of those cities or here in LA.
I felt absolutely fine and safe in Melbourne, and thought it was a wonderful, interesting city. I did roam about the streets on my own a bit during the day in safe neighborhoods, but I always met up with my family in the evening and stayed with them. I've done the same in all the cities mentioned above. I'm pretty sure that if I'd slept on any of their streets or wondered about in the middle of the night in unfamiliar territory I'd have wound up with problems, possibly including death, in any of those places.
This could happen in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma, too, though. Trip on a rock, choke on a random berry I've picked without having someone around to Heimlich maneuver me, ect, ect, ect.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that no person, regardless as to their age, should spend 24/7 alone on any street. I seriously hope you don't do this anytime, anywhere. Whatever problem you may have, this will not be the answer.
Hope this answers your quirky little question. Be safe. : ) |

Since it's such a big place, she's probably not safe at all, unless she is with other people who are taking care of her and that would probably mean prostitution, so that's not good, either!
I would be concerned like crazy if I were this girl's parent or friend! She should come home immediately or absolutely not go if she's just thinking about it!!! |

0-0.0000001% a bloke would be more likely to be killed because hed be more likely to get into a bar brawl and die that way, im out at night all the time, and i usually catch the train or walk, im yet to die, u should be right, just dont go wandering around west heidelberg... |

Melbourne is a very friendly place with lots of nice people. You will come across the occasional suspicious person though, but than again that's the same with any city. If your in trouble there is always someone that will help you, just ask for help. It's still best to go with someone else though.
I hope this helps you |

If i where a 16yo girl alone in Melbourne. i would.
A: Wear as much clothes as possible.
B: Walk faster than usual to the destination.
C: Stick to the main streets where there are people.
Melbourne is Not so bad. there is just a lot of drunks, and drugged people who are crazy. but really its fine.
This girl will probably not get KILLED for some time. but maybe one day. It happens. Just like anywhere else. |

Samantha
 |
24/7, I assume, means she is out there for an infinite amount of time, therefore, she would be killed eventually, if natural death is taken out of the equation. |
