I live in Rockhampton and it is pretty relaxed. Half hour from the beach, but Beef capital of Australia. Its like a large country town. Got everything you need here. Its safe and clean with a good lifestyle. Weather is nice, with warm winters, hot summers and it rains here. No water restrictions, lots of pools and spas. Lots of sports and out door things to do and apparently some of the cheapest alcohol in Aus. Good nightlife relaxed atmosphere. |

here are a few big towns in victoria
ballarat (90 000 people, you get the benefits of both city and country because it's small yet big enough to have big westfield shopping centres)
geelong - i think it's the biggest non capital city, it's also near the beach. My friend moved there for a year and loved it
i definetly recommend moving to one of these cities
I lived in a really really small country town (like 300 people) and it was awesome, but i did miss the city so i guess ballarat and geelong would be perfect
but then there's also smaller towns like bendigo, colac, mt gambier that are still pretty big |

There are many nice inland possibilities, including Orange, Bathurst, Toowoomba, Canberra, Albury, Bendigo, Ballarat, Launceston, Mildura. And there are of course a great many more on the coast. It depends on what you are after: climate? population? distance from capital city? If you are including coastal cities there are a great many to choose from. |

There's lots of options. I live in Armidale (NSW) at the moment and love it. Other large NSW towns that are great are Coffs Harbour, Lismore, Ballina, Grafton, Port Macquarie, Orange, Mildura. In Qld there's places like Cairns, Townsville, Bowen, Mackay, Bundaberg, Toowoomba... I'm not so familiar with the other states, but am sure they'd have lots of great towns as well. |

Perth! We live in the hills, it is not too far from the city but it is far enough to feel as if you are in the country. |

Rural New South Wales, Victoria, but not Tasmania. Tasmania is the most stuffed up state politically that I have ever been to.
Oh yes and northern Queensland has the most beautiful lifestyle. |

Well any where you go their will always be the drunks and the fights so be carefull. The small towns are just as bad. but they are nice for the most part, for fishing and getting around quickly. But beware off the aboriginal problem and also the white but the white assuie and aboriginal seem to be in a hateful relationship, and avoid each other for the most part. |
