The nearest resorts are in the snowy mountains near Melbourne. They are world class and is a great area for just about anything else. Enjoy.

The only snow region in Australia in in to proximity of Canberra and south from there to the Victoria border.. about 3 months of the year. I live in Brisbane and it was cheaper for one of my friends to spend 2 weeks in the snow in New Zealand than to have 2 weeks in our own snowfields

You'd be best moving to Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra. All of those three cities are accessible to the Snowy Mountains - a fabulous Ski/snow resort.
I had friends who lived in Sydney and would go surfing before breakfast at Manly Beach and by early afternoon would be skiing in the Mountains! It was that close!

Canberra would be your best bet.
2.5 hours away to the snow. Day trips are so easy

If you are coming to Perth perhaps its would be more realistic to change your sport? If you took up surfing you would have a lot more choice in location.
