it will be a very big plane as you are going a long way! i have done the trip about 6 times when i was 8-12 years. you can watch films to take your mind off the flight and you will be served meals! the toilets are small but ok (but i used to get scared by the sound of the flush when i was little so mum had to flush it for me!!!) you can walk around and look out of the big window in the door which is cool. Oh and you will have radio stations to listen to on the headphones. the plane does make a noise when its flying but it isnt loud and the plane may bump up and down a bit which is NORMAL its just due to hitting air pockets (i think lol). i used to get travel sickness quite bad so make sure you get mum to buy you stuff just in case! you'll be fine but it is a very long flight-a whole day and night!!! so prepare to be a little bored!!x |

Wow that's a long flight to take as your first!
Take off and landing are the most exciting/scary bits and the big bit in the middle is boring! Take loads to do. Also make sure you take some sweets for take off to try and stop your ears popping.
Have a good flight and a good life in Australia! |

Awww, Princess, you're gonna just love this trip. Don't worry about the aircraft. They are huge and after a while you'll forget you're flying. I don't know where you're from but if you are from England or Europe it will take around 15 to 20 hours flying to get here (Perth, on the west coast.) There will be one landing for refueling, usually Singapore. If you're from the USA, you will fly non-stop from the West Coast (LAX or SFO) to Sydney or Melbourne.
The feeling of butterflies in the tummy will be there on take off because it's new to you but after a couple of hours, you will be a seasoned traveler.
Have a wonderful trip honey, and as you will be accompanied by an adult, ask for the window seat. Don't miss the fabulous views. The trip won't seem all that long because you will have a sleep on the way. You will wake up, and have a breakfast served to you and before long you will feel the aircraft dropping and when you look out the window, you will see your first look at Australia, It is very, very enjoyable. The best way in the world to travel. |

Flying to Australia is a long old journey. If you can afford it stop over in somewhere like Singapore, this really does break the journey up. You have time to get a good sleep and a shower. If you are going straight there get ear plugs and a nice pillow. By the way the journeys worth it Australia is awesome! |

Unless you want everyone around you to throttle you, do not use an Ipod unless you have the volume turned way down. The headphones supplied for the music channels on the plane do not go up so loud that they can be heard by the person next to you. Ipod users are seldom so considerate.
Flying is fun. As it is your first flight, ask for a window seat. |

it's not that scary....just make sure to have gum because whe you take off and land your ears might hurt alot....especially if you have a stuffy nose or are sick...it will be very boring so try and take reading material or something to keep yourself entertained...other than that..only the takeoff and landing feel weird. |

Taking off and landing can be a bit bumpy but once it settles down it just feels like being on a train. I can't believe you are emigrating to Australia and have never flown. |

As you are only 11 I'd like to ask you if you ever had been on a roller coaster? If so, the feeling isn't that worse on a plane though.
When taking off you'll get slightly pressed into your seat and you might get a funny feeling in your stomach for a few minutes.
When landing you'll feel the bump when the plane's wheels touch the landing strip. Depends on the pilot then. I sometimes had a pilot who did such a soft landing which felt like hopping into a feather bed and some pilots don't seem to have "feelings". Do you get the idea what I mean?
It's not bad. I'll enjoy flying very much. It's great fun. If you politely ask the flight attendant you might even have a brief look into the cockpit BEFORE taking off. The crew will be very kind to children. |

top tip...
Get there early and ask (think puss in boots on shrek) nicely for the emrgency exit window seats so can stretch your legs
You need to show (mentally as well) you can open said exit)
Take ear pugs, travell pillow and a fleease or too also to act as pillows under back etc.
Long and boring.
Wet towels also good as are sudafed pills when it starts to decent... if get sore ears pinch nose, and swallowholding breath.
Mostly its boring... dry, if you see empty seats lift arm rests, loosly put a belt on and sleep.
Monoply etc could be good if you have mates and maybe a laptop. meints help too
Also do a stop off in thailand for a few weeks at least... make sure you go here...

www.tigertemple.co.uk
and learn to scuba dive say at Koh Toa Island.
Also note just book first couple of nights hotel... much cheaper ones will be next door or nearby |

One tip to make an unpleasant experience (it is basically sitting in a bus for far too long, except more people and less room) easier to deal with are things called noise reducing headphones. They cut out a lot of the background drone and make it much easier to watch movies or listen to music. I won't fly without them. |

i was 16 when i went to australia, i went on my own as my dad lives over there, i was bored on the flight as i was on my own but you have films and games to watch/play it is a long flight 26 hours, my best advice is try and sleep as much as you can, time will soon pass |

you'll either love it or hate it.............either way is really exciting.I remember my first time.I couldn't believe how quickly something so big can accelerate so quickly
Ive flown probably more than hundreds of times now and still get butterflies when taking off.
It's great |

Taking off is really exciting, and for the first few minutes you'll have butterflies, but they'll pass. On a flight to Australia you'll have plenty of time to get used to it!!!! |

You will get butterflies, it is something new and unknown. It is like being on a train. It can be rather boring. Take something interesting to do, drawing, reading, games etc. There is a TV screen in front of you so you can watch films and play games. It is a long flight but it is worth it in the end. Be prepared to fall asleep in the middle of the day and wake up in the middle of the night for a few days (jet lag).
Good luck |

It's fine, gets a bit boring, but watching films, aeroplane food and sleeping fill up the time a bit. Had a little bit of turbulance one of the times I was over but besides that trying to get my ears to pop was about the most troublesome thing :) I think you'll probably be so excited about going that any anxiety about travelling on a plane will probably be forgotten. Have a great trip! |

You may feel a bit fluttery during takeoff but that's mostly the noise. Once you hit cruising altitude, as everyone has said, it's just like sitting in a chair, without enough leg room. And you have to sit there and behave. Take something to read, I used to buy the thickest book I could find for long flights. |

Take some sweets to suck on as your ears will pop. Sit back and enjoy it, its great fun.
The plane will be comfortable, the noisy part is taking off and landing. This is a little bit like a roller coaster ride and you will be travelling at a bit of an angle. The plane levels out again when it gets to the right height. Once you are up its like being on a train. Very steady and you can get up and move around. Its probably a lot more comfortable than being in a car.
On a long haul flight you will get movies and music to keep you happy. Take something to play with to keep you occupied. You can take an electronic game as long as you don't connect to the Internet. If you ask the stewardess nicely they may even let you see the where the captain sits and the cockpit of the plane.
Enjoy your flight. |

It depends on the plane. All different sizes and models of planes have different sensations. If you knew what size and type of plane you would be flying in I might be able to give you a better idea what your ride will be like... |

It's noisy, cramped and can be bumpy. Take earplugs, special flight socks (to help prevent DVT) and travel sickness tablets. Also you need an eye mask and an Ipod or similar. |

yeah, the first time I went on a plane I was well disappointed because it felt just like sitting in a train. Till we hit that mountain, of course. |
