They are not seen in the cities, but if you are on the out skirts of a city where there is plenty of vacant land bush golf courses etc you may see some . If you are travelling by road at dawn or dusk anywhere in the country or out back you are likely to see plenty. They are a hazard on the road at night especially when there has been no rain for a long time and they come to eat what we call green pickings along the road side. They usually sleep during the day under the shade of trees.

its about the same as deer in north america you do see lots of them

not in the cities, but anywhere else they are bloody everywhere, if you live out in the desert like me, chances are you would have hit dozens of them in your car over your lifetime, they are a pest, always destroying crops

iluvcats
lol no they do run around everywhere in the bush tough well not everywhere but early in the morning or in the night you can. You can find possums in a tree in your backyard i don't though. But be careful if you see a possum don't pick them up they can be quite dangerous. (if you think im jokin im not)

No, where there is bushland that backs onto houses you would see them, when you are driving thru country at dawn or dusk you have to really watch out you don't hit one, half an hour south of me, my friend has 10 acres and feeds roos and wallabys every day. If you are a lucky, you are more likely to see a Koala up a gum tree in your back yard than a roo anywhere near the house, they are flighty and prone to getting hit by cars etc. Uncleared areas about an hour out of the City (except Canberra) and you may see them if they want to be seen.

Aussie
Well you do see alot of them there like deer or elk in Colorado. You see a lot of them when you go to the mountains. I went to the mountains for a trip but other then that I live in Australia.

vanessa
some of us have pet kangaroos.

petedavo
They are all over my local golf course, and at our Airport and I'm only 15 kms from the Perth CBD.
We have bandicoots living in the bush along the Tonkin Highway just across the road from my house, and I've seen road kill kangaroos along Tonkin and Roe Highways. Mitchel Freeway is notorious for them, especially around the Pinaroo cemetery.
So the answer is yes, but not in the inner city and high density suburbs.

Go to the http://www.westernaustralia.com website and play the city of Perth movie on the top right hand corner of the website to see some kangaroos at my local golf course.

yes they are every where!! i'm a shooter and a professional wallby shooter on king island on tasmaina and there are hundreds of thousands over here. i shoot at least 200 a night with out trying. and in the outback i have cousins that have a sheep station next to a national park that the roos are so thick that they are starving them sefs and the best thing is to thin them out. since first settlement in australia kangaroos population has incresed 2000% due to all the farm land and avlaliable water on them.

Put it this way, even for a Native Australian, it's still an event to see a kangaroo in the wild.

Frosty
Not all of us think they are running around everywhere.

mashedtaita
Yes it's true.We use them for shopping trolleys at the supermarket.
No,only joking. Not many kangaroos left here in Australia. Those bloody Wombats and Bilbys eat a hell of a lot of them.
