It is a very reasonable wage, the average in Australia is $50K per year.
You could live a comfortable life with some little luxuries. You could raise a family in the suburbs also.
Cost of living is significantly cheaper in Aus, though we are catching up. Things like food are still cheaper though. |

That's a good wage that could support a family with an average mortgage.
And it depends what part of the UK and Oz you're talking about. Perth and WA has a high living cost due to the mining boom, while Tasmania has a low cost, but has a smaller job market. But comparing Sydney to London, then Sydney is much cheaper. |

Yes, it's a very good wage - rent, mortgages and petrol are becoming more and more expensive here, but 70k a year would more than offset that. It would be enough for a family to survive on a single income, and if you were unattached with no financial commitments and earning that amount on your own you'd be living the high life! |

Yes easily. You would be well off, but it depends on what sort of life you intend to use the money for. If you want a big modern house with a 4 kids in your family and inner city living with two cars, then I don't think it would be enough. |
