Well.. I am an American that was born and raised in the USA. I actually lived here all my life until about 2 and a half years ago. I moved to Perth, Western Australia with my 12 year old son. I can tell you from experience, it's beautiful. The people are nice, there are a lot of things to do. Plenty of activities for children of all ages as well as adults. They have a very laid back attitude and you do not find many restaurants or taverns that refuse to serve you and your family food. Instead of pidgeons waking you, you have Kukaburras and Cockatoo's. The only reason we are back in the States, is due to an illness in my family. We are only here temperarily.
Down fall.. HEAT!!!! I swear I saw the devil himself running to get on a plane to leave Australia... saying something about it being too hot for even him.
I HIGHLY recommend anyone to go to Australia.. Its the most beautiful country in the world, with the best people.. if you can handle tell it like it is answers or comments.. My son and I love it there and will be happy when we are back!! |

Australia is o.k. check out a tour of the Sydney Opera House and spend the evenings at Darling Harbour where there are a lot of street entertainers. Don't eat the vegemite sandwiches. You can climb the Harbour bridge. The Tarango park zoo sucks, but the boat ride over is o.k. Bondi beach is not as cool as it sounds. The women there are NOT HOT. There are two buses that travel around the town so it is easy to get around. The buses are red and blue so they are easy to spot. My advice: Go to Singapore instead. |

No, but here's the truth about Australia.
1. The food is horrible, you can't even begin to imagine.
2. The people are very stable and down-to-Earth. You won't have the drama you have in America.
3. It is very safe, so safe in fact, it will unnerve you.
4. Most people don't have that brawling Aussie accent.
5. Men haven't discovered knee-length shorts there yes...many wear stubbies, which are as long as the shorts many girls wear here!
6. It's pretty boring there, but if you want to relax, it can be great. If you learn to appreciate the outdoors, you can have a good time! |

Yeah, it's fun, but fun is where ever you MAKE it.
I'm at work in Australia right now and am bored out of my brain.
Something that most USA people wouldn't know about Australia is that it is not a part of the USA. That really pissed me off when I was traveling about the USA, really disrespectful - joke or serious. |

Nature is beautiful. Surf is good. It may become boring after one year or so unless you like to watch trees and surf all day. If you're colored, it won't be fun as it is a racist country. Places are too far, speed limits are low, travelling takes a lot of time. Weather is okay in Sydney, it is like Autumn & Spring whole year. No winter, no summer. I heard Perth has summers like the Mediterranean, but it is too quiet there. Australia is okay, but it is NOT one of the best destinations. |

I went to Australia last year and had alot of fun. I spent alot of time in Bombala and enjoyed it. It was a slower pace of life compared to the United States. Different Culture also I saw alot of neat things that we don't have here. I think that every animal that they find common is stuff that is rare to us. Kangaroos would be like deer to us (everywhere). The Tropical Birds (Cockatoos & Parrots flying wild in their natural habitats) It's an incredible change of scenery. I spent time in Canberra, Cooma, Bombala, Marembula, Port Stephens, and Sydney. They were all enjoyable. Its an amazing Country. (the next time I go I want to go for a month with $10,000 cash) two weeks is not long enough. The downsides... almost every animal is poisonous, can be kind of spendy, foods not spectacular but things like msg are illegal so its better for you, It can get really hot in summer and bugs can suck.. you need to have sun screen with UV A and B protection. Still a great place to go.. people were super hospitable. |

somewhat agree to some of the points others have mentioned.. Berri is indeed a nice little town.. If you ever go there.. try the pies at the bakery! They are yummy-licious.
Go for some wine tasting too.. get drunk!
How come no one mentioned the cost of getting around thou? |

It is great. The beaches are the best in the world and the surfing is the best in the world. The boys are fit, and the sun shines all of the time. Although, You can't find Foster in Australia. You can only find V.B. Or Victoria Bitter. That is the Australian beer. THe only beer that anyone drinks. |

It's fun if you go to Berri Backpackers. It's in the small town of Berri a few miles away from Adelaide. Trust me it's the most fun place you will ever go to. |
