It's not just good it's bloody brilliant......

at this time ... we're a nation in mourning .. with many townships under threat of flood and of bushfires. many townships have been razed.. and thousands upon thousand have lost their homes... many many people have lost their lives...

BUT ...... what has shone through in this dark dark time .. is the Aussie Spirit... the put your hand out and lend a hand to those in need mentality.....

we're a nation of not quite 22,000,000 and at this point over $100,000,000 has been raised ( within a week) to help the victims of the fires... in addition to the thousand and thousands of dollars of donated goods and services...

we do this because we WANT TO ... we do this because we can .. we do this because we're australians .. and THAT is bloody brilliant

Good, from my view here in Detroit, Michigan USA

I agree with Jenny. Just look at the response of australians to the bush fires. I live really close to them. I can smell the smoke when I step outside. But we have raised millions of dollars. Everyone volunteers and donates goods. I volunteered at the community centre sorting womens clothes and it was unbelieveable how much was donated.

The fires are still going and look at the response. It really shows you how Australians will band together under a crisis. The fires are a tragedy. So many good, ordinary innocent people have been lost. But in the midst of it, its inspiring to see how so many people have banded together to help in whatever ways they can.

australia is the best place in the world! great weather (most of the time) nice people clean places :D i love it here!

JJ
Like any place is has both good and bad points. I live here so I feel its mostly good.

We do not call each other mate and shelia, or say g'day all the time.
We do not all live in the outback, there are bustling cities just like other countries have.
we do not have koalas or kangaroos for pets.
We have beautiful scenery.
We have great sporting events and celebs love coming 'down under' to australia.
We are a nation of people who lend a hand when our fellow aussies are in need (see other answer above about our current flood and bushfire tragedies)
we really are the land of the free (sometimes too free for the sake of political correctness)
men women and children are respected and respectful.

I love australia and i wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

To be totally honest the answer varies depending on who you ask
Australia has a lot of variety in people work position and in wealth among people
Quite a lot of lucky people live in multi-million dollar mansions have high paying jobs and live the easy life
while others are homeless, poor ,alone and unemployed.
There are now alot of different races here since the 1960s when it was mainly descendants of western europeans, then in the 1960s drastic controversial changes in immigration policy in govt was implemented now there are many asians, all europeans ,arabs and jews and other muslims and people from other countries as well.
Some of the people here are bad just like some of the people in the US are bad but I would say the US has a lot more bad people than we have
We have some good people too and some of the finest people you can meet are Australians.
You can have a good time as a tourist as the accommodation facilities and eating facilities are world class and there is lots to see in the natural environment of Australia.
But one thing that does not change in Australia is the beautiful natural environment which varies from skiing and snow in Victoria and NSW to beautiful rainforest in north Qld to wild outback in NT and WA

infenal dragon
It's a great there but right now they have differences.
