Is Australia worth it?

I plan to travel from Miami to Brisbane, Australia to visit some family members and to have a good time on vacation. I don't mean to stay in Brisbane the whole time. Is it worth it?

There is a lot to see and do in and around Brisbane.
Queensland, the state Brisbane is capital of, has some of the best beaches in the country and if you go up further north to Cairns you can see some great scenery and wildlife parks.

Sydney is terrific, lots to see and do there as well. The city itself is bigger than Brisbane and you can see all the touristy type sites like the opera house and the harbour bridge but make sure you spend time at the rocks and the beaches (Bondi) are a must.

Melbourne (home for me) is very different again. Its more the business capital of the country, beautiful and elegant. Ride trams, shop in the city (we have the best here) and the restaurants are first class.

Is Australia worth it, you might have to come and see for yourself to decide that one but I would say you wont be disappointed.

Yes of course. 'Where else but Queensland'! Easy trips from Brisbane can include idyllic beaches, islands, rainforests, countryside and sooo much more. Check out this website for things to see and do. queenslandholidays.com.au

YEA! I went there this last summer; and Brisbane is AMAZING! i went from Sydney up to Cairns; and it wonderful! if i ever had the chance to go again i totally world!!!! but it is a LOOOONNNGGGGG plane ride; but there are tv's on the plane =)

It won't be worth it if you have an attitude like that.

Definitely go. It will be a trip you will remember forever. I remember when I went everyone else was sleeping and I was wide awake looking out at the trees looking for koala. If you have ever heard a kookaburra all you can think about is the outback. Throw a boomerang, a real one. See kangaroos looking back at you from the brush. Go out at night and see the Southern Cross. All I can say is GO! GO! GO!

Yes. We spent a month in Oz and a week in New Zealand. There is so much to do everywhere. Hot air balloon the outback, Ayres Rock, Great Barrier Reef, rain forest, Sydney Bridge and Opera House,Baby penguin walk is a must, camel rides, eat some kangaroo, see the wallabies and koalas....tons to see and do!

Brad
Brisbane is pretty cool. So is Melbourne and Sydney. If your looking for something like Miami that is Touristy and Beachy then try the Gold Coast.

If you'll be in the Brisbane area there's things to do there. The Sunshine Coast and Gold Coasts are 1 hour north and south respectively. As well as great beaches they both also have beautiful hinterlands. You can visit some of the beautiful islands in Moreton Bay (Stradbroke/Moreton). Byron Bay is about 2 hours south of Brisbane, and also has a stunning hinterland. It's definitely worth it! If you can hire a car you'll be able to see load of things within easy driving distance (say less than 3 hours).

It is almost always worth going almost anywhere.

Visiting new places shows us new things, and can be a great experience.

Take every chance that life gives, and never have to say: "What if... I had done x...x when I was younger"

Yes, it is beautiful. And there is so much to do from Brisbane that you could spend a month there and still be entertained. (With lots of day trips to the sunshine coast, gold coast and south east country)

Make sure you travel up the coast of Queensland and see the Whitsundays, Great Barrier Reef, and then out to the outback at Longreach.

I am sure your family will take you on outings that interest you while you stay in brisbane. See as much of australia as you can afford - it is truly unique and very very different from Miami.

I have never been to Australia but I have always wanted too. Of course it's worth it! There is a ton of stuff that you can do there, you can scuba dive or have a tour. Do you know how many unique animals live there? I think you should go because even if it isn't worth it, its a once in a lifetime trip, so find a way to enjoy it!
